I know as of late I haven't been around much, let alone diving. Honestly I have had so much going on, plus working nights means I'm backasswards to 95% of the population.

At work I went to nights as at the time was the least stressful option away from the drama and BS that seems to follow day shift for some reason. For the most part I have been able to avoid it, just one piece left but after tomorrow night its gone and my shift will be back to who is supposed there. Also getting back on the truck after 2.5 years away and its a welcome change of pace away from comm. Also good to know I've still got the touch to handle what ever gets thrown my way, although a few people dont care for the "Black Cloud" that seems to follow me :D .

Outside of that I have been working through the backlog of images (140K images) I have shot over the past 5 years, as well as more current work shot this year. In May I released "Key West Screnity" (Ill post the "Key West Serenity" release info wednesday night when I get home) which is the first of six images in the "Chasing the Sunset" Series. More works and news coming out in the next year as I have a multiple projects progress, including a book project.

Finally earlier last month a former co-worker of mine gave me a heads up on a offshore paramedic position. When opportunity knocks answer it as it may never again! For those that arent aware working offshore as a paramedic is right up there with working as a flight paramedic. You basically have to know someone to get a foot in the door and have your ducks in a row if the SHTF. Once I had the information I forward my resume with references (person who gave me the heads up put in a good word for me as well). About a week later got a email from the safety manager who is doing the hiring and set up a interview in Houston (Magnoila Technically) on June 28th. It went very well from what I could tell (and later feedback from the safety manager)who also liked my responses to some follow up questions from the interview. During the interview was told I would hear back the following friday, which was fine by me as I was headed to the river that weekend with some co-workers.

Well last friday morning I got off work and because I was waiting for an answer I couldnt sleep. About 1500 (3pm) got the call and was given the bad news I didnt get the job. The upswing was that I came in second for one reason (experince) as I had eveything they were looking for (Theres more ill get back to in a minute). Which is true I only have 5 years as a paramedic which in the grand scheme of things is still relatively "new", and the person who got the position had a couple more years of experince then me. The safety manager said he would keep my resume on file as they are expanding and have other vessels coming online in the near future.

Everything happens for a reason... may not know why but thats not our call. I had high hopes for this based on the interview and other indicators from the safety guy and the person who gave me the lead. Honestly I was looking for a change as in pace / location (not to mention whole other ballfield in pay) as some of the goings on at work have me wondering at my employers survival. Everything happens for a reason and Im not letting this keep me down as there is still hope for a position to open up. In the meantime I'm keeping my options open and seeking some advanced training (DMT = Dive Medical Technician), certifications (CCEMT-P = Critical Care Paramedic) and instructor cards (for professional providers and CPR, AED , First Aid for lay providers). Being so that when an opportunity presents itself again I can distinguish myself from others by my experince and training.

So that pretty much whats going on...For those that are on my friends list on facebook, the job interview is what I was being crytic about. It wasn't to beat the bush but rather so people at work who love to stir the rumormill not have anything to talk about nor give anyone a heads up I was looking at other opportunities.
