Hi, I'm new to this site and to scuba diving, just got my open water certification on sunday! thought i'd join and see about meeting a few dive buddies, i don't plan on doing any exotic or out of state dives at the moment just to get a few more dives under my belt and to get my advanced certification. Hopefully I can meet some great people here and if not dive with see all the great pics and hear all the good stories of the trips

Hi Lacie...welcome and CONGRATULATIONS ON GETTING CERTIFIED!!! Its AWESOME!!! :wakawaka:

Being in CA means you have some great diving in your backyard... some even consider CA to be exotic diving with all the kelp and um... 'sharks'! LOL! ;)

So use our forums to learn more about this great sport... read old threads...they are all nice and balanced and FUN!!! And start new ones...all divers entering our sport still have lots of questions and that is great!

So splash around and we are glad you found us! And hopefully one day we'll meet you on a trip too! :teeth:

Hello Lacie, allow me to echo Kamala's hearty :welcome: !! I appreciate your prudent plan to gain a bit of experience locally before committing to a grander destination; with that said, we invite you to peruse our Forums for scuba related topics that may pique your interest. We boast a wide range of skills and experience, with a friendly neighborhood atmosphere conducive to answering questions from beginners to tech advanced.

Of course I also recommend stopping by Kamala's Upcoming Trips topic; think of it as window shopping for your first big dive adventure, with quasi-pre-introduced group of experienced and helpful dive buddies, when you are ready! :cool1:

:welcome: Joining in the band wagon with the others! :teeth:

Congratulations to you on getting your cert!! It's the best thing I've ever done!! I waited awhile before I got my AOW, but it really helped me with my buoyancy.

Enjoy the site and making new buddies! I hope to dive with you sometime! :cool1:

Let me also add my Welcome to the group. another option is to take a trip with SD and get the experience you are looking for before you have develped any bad habits that will have to be "fixed" at a later date. It's better to learn a skill the right way the first time. Everyone here has been where you are now. There are no dumb questions and the pools open. come on in! Glad you found us and I hope to dive with you on a trip soon.

Each wreck has a tale to tell about its life and its demise.

If you are observant while diving in dark places listen to the account each has to tell, You cannot come away unaffected.

Good for you. Enjoy your new activity. If you're ever out at the Casino Pt. Dive Park, feel free to stop by the Dr. Bill Mobile (golf cart) and say hello.

Welcome to diving and SD - great folks, great site.
No aquarium, no tank in a marine land, however spacious it may be, can begin to duplicate the conditions of the sea. And no dolphin who inhabits one of those aquariums or one of those marine lands can be considered normal.
