But rather to skid in broadside, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming--"WOW--What a ride!"

Yeah I know: I've been branded a non-group person - doesn't play well with others. I am so upset. Let me know if you want to have some fun, without the drama - I'm good for that.

Dandy Don says I'm really a Texan 'cause I live east of the Rio Grande I just don't know it!
Historically, he's partially correct. From the Texican POV. That part of New Mexico came from the annexation of Texas, not as part of the spoils of the Mexican War.
OTOH, Mexico claimed the border was not the Rio Grande, but the Nueces. The Mexican claim appears to be valid as the Nueces was the traditional boundry of Texas. This was true when Mexico was a Spanish colony and after Mexican independence. The Rio Grande claim was based on two points, neither very convincing. First, when Mexico allowed US citizens to immigrate into Mexico, primarily in Texas, some of those US citizens settled in the area between the Nueces and the Rio Grande. Kinda like claiming that because most Cubans settled in Florida, but since some settled in south Georgia, the Florida/Georgia border should be moved north. Pretty silly. The second point was when Antonio LĂłpez de Santa Anna was defeated at San Jacinto, he agreed to withdraw his troops across the Rio Grande. Following this logic, that portion of New Mexico was acquired in the Mexican War.
I think it's safe to say, you aren't a Texan.

Hidden depths, Walter. Hidden depths.
What are we hiding? How deep? Once ('86) a bottle of liquor was hidden in the Wreck of the Eagle at about 95 feet.
