We have an EPIC costume party every year in Bonaire!

 

This year you can help us choose the theme! In the past we have done:

 

1. Island Time (Anything related to an island)

2. Tacky Tourist (just what it sounds like)

3. Anything B...meaning anything that starts with the letter B

4. Anything S..meaning anything that starts with an S

5. Bad puns

7. Rock & Roll - either as a particular performer or a song. Members could collaborate to appear as a band or group.

UPDATE:

 

When in doubt...its best to allow you ALL to be the most creative 'you can. So we are going to use one of our fail safe standby's.... Alphabet Soup!  This is where we choose a letter of the alphabet and you come up with a costume starts with that letter.

 

So this year's letter is "S"...

 

So anything that starts with an "S"counts!

 

• school kid
• soccer player
• star
• safety sausage
• shrink
• skunk
• scientist
• school teacher

 

you get the idea! If it starts with an "S".... its going to be a WINNER!!!!  

 

 

One finall note... we need 10 contestants to run the contest and while I will participate...I can't win so we 10 add'l contestants to me!!!

Personally I like "Island Time" for the theme. It leaves a lot of room for interpretation & creativity while also being relavemt to our locale. Just my 2 psi worth.

It was a great theme....but we are trying to find NEW ONES...can't do the same themes over and over again.

How about "Bad Puns"? I have heard of things like wearing a bedside table and being a "One Night Stand". The internet should be full of ideas. Entering Punny costumes in Pinterest got pages of them.

Sounds like a cool idea indeed..One of our biggest challenges is we need to be mindful that costumes have to be portable and/or assembled on the island. This may not be portable enough...then again I'm sure it depends on the pun. LOL!

Could be something as simple as a set of Pom-Poms and a shirt with "Ceiling" on it - a Ceiling Fan

 

Half the fun would be figuring out the pun.  And the ocean is near-by so we can throw the truly bad ones in.

If we go with this, I already have mine picked out (and,yes, it will probably get me tossed in the drink!).

 

Just remember that the beauty of a pun is in the "Oye!" of the beholder!

Okay: To avoid the repeat on themes, we could do a decade theme (thinking 1980's, but other decades would work). Have we done a theme like that? Leaves a lot open; from the hairstyles to the hair bands, to the music & movies of the decade to the politics.

Another 2 psi worth; but I'm running out of air.

To try to influence the vote towards the "Bad Puns" theme, allow me to give a few more ideas:

     Shirt with numbers all over it = Someone You Can Count On

     Wear clothes in various shades of green = Mixed Greens

     Zombie with a “Thank You” card = Grateful Dead

     A blue shirt, extension cord, and rubber chicken = Chicken Cordon Bleu

OK  I thought of this while driving listening to the radio .  How about  " Rock an Roll "   You could come as a song or a singer . People could get together and come as a group .  Thats my 2 psi worth for the day .
