I'm new to requesting tank sizes.  I've never been given a choice.  Can you give me a quick overview of why someone would request a specific tank size?

Sorry to be such a newbie (even though I've been diving for more than 20 years!).   ;)

Thanks!

Amy

Hi Amy,

My recollection on the 63's is that they are about 3-4 inches shorter and less buoyant. If you factor in that they are less buoyant, you're going to be carrying around about 5-6 lbs less weight between the tank weight and lead on your weight belt.

They are nice for smaller divers when typical aluminum 80's are a bit too long or shedding the 6lbs of total weight is important due to physical limitations.Hope this helps.

To add to what Jose said .... a 100 cf tank has 20% more air/nitrox in it so give people the ability to dive longer fi they are harder on air.

We hope this helps!

The typical tank size is an 80cf tank and is more than sufficient for most divers. A few divers like a larger tank and a few like a smaller tank.

Amy that is the smart move IMO, particularly if you are average on air consumption and happy with your buoyancy / trim. configuration. It also saves you the minor annoyance of adjusting your BC retainer straps if, like mine and most divers I know, use a weave on the buckle for the strap that retains position but can be a bit cumbersome when adjusting after a long time in place.

That said, I would encourage you to take advantage while in Dominica to solicit opinions from the 63cf users on the trip as well as what others using the standard 80cf aluminum tanks think. Our community is a treasure trove of scuba experience and we are happy to share with others! :diver:
