FIRST OFF....if it is easy to get there...the diving probably shows the impact. IF IT IS HARD TO GET THERE THE DIVING DEFINITELY SHOWS THE LACK OF IMPACT!!!

That is the case with Tobago! Its not easy to get there so the diving shows it!

IN OTHER WORDS.,....THE DIVING WILL BE AMAZING BECAUSE MOST PEOPLE EITHER WON'T OR DON'T figure out how to get there!

So be one of the few.... and to help you we will discuss flight options and help people find flights are on to reduce the burden of traveling AND save on the transfers!

So here goes....

Traveling to Tobago entails one of two options....

1. It will be a very long day for MOST of those trying to get without an overnight stay.... ITS WORTH IT!!

2. Many will have to do an overnight stay somewhere along the way or do a redeye to get to Tobago!  ITS WORTH IT!!!

So let us help you figure it out! Or post here for ideas and our AWESOME MEMBERS will help you as well!

Here is something Susan aka Resqdew sent me....

As with any flight to the Caribbean, I have one of two choices since I live in the central
Part of the USA --- fly all day to get there, or I'm forced to overnight someplace before arriving.

For Tobago, I found my best option was the 'fly all day' option.
Early morning I'll take two American flights to get to Miami, then I planned a three hour layover so I can collect my luggage in MIA, then go to Nature Air at MIA to check in. Fly on Nature Air from MIA to Trinidad, then a connection to Tobago. I was told by Nature Air that they transfer my luggage in Trinidad to the Tobago, which is good, but the bad part is arriving at 9:30pm. It was still my best option for the price.

Traci one of our uber TC's (Trip Coordinators) found the following flight options...

Caribbean Air flys to Tobago out of JFK with a red eye, but CHEAP - $771!

Walt  you could do this....

4/14  JET BLUE   SAV - JFK 6:59PM - 9:12PM    $191 R/T
4/15  CARIBBEAN  JFK = POS 12:50AM -5:50AM    $266.90
                 POS - TAB 7:40AM - 8:05AM

4/22  CARIBBEAN  TAB - POS 2:30PM - 2:55PM    $312.93
                 POS - JFK 5:30PM - 10:50PM
4/23  JET BLUE   JFK - SAV 6:55AM - 9:20AM

Other than a red-eye and maybe not getting FF miles, this doesn't seem like a bad option. Maybe we encourage flights through JFK?  I know Caribbean also flies from Miami, Fort Lauderdale and Orlando...

Someone out there may find a better itinerary, but In my case (my home airport is Savannah), I found using Miami as a “hub” saved me more than two hours of travel time than using Houston.  So I booked my flights and now I’ll be joining the other SD divers in Tobago!

I’ll be arriving in Miami Apr 15, 1:08 pm aboard Delta 1057. Then using Caribbean Air Flt 483 to Tobago, with a layover in Trinidad (POS), arriving Scarborough (TAB), aboard Caribbean Air 1540, at 9:10 pm.  It's still a long haul, but we'd be enjoying Tobago!  Maybe we’ll run into one another along the way.

Walt

Thanks Walt! Also coming from the SC area I will use Miami as my hub as well! I'll try to be on the same flight(s) if possible.

It will take me two flights to get to Miami, but then I'm booked on the Caribbean Air flight leaving Miami at 3:20pm, arrive Trinidad at 7:05pm,  then I'm also on the Caribbean Air Flight 1540, departing at 8:45pm from Trinidad arriving in Tobago at 9:10pm. No doubt there will be several of our group on this same flight to Tobago!

If you fly into Trinidad on Delta, American, etc., remember that you will need time to pick up your luggage at baggage claim and then go to the Caribbean Air counter to check-in for your flight to Tobago. If you fly from Florida on Caribbean Air to Trinidad, I was told by the Caribbean Air customer service agent that they automatically transfer your luggage to the Caribbean Air flight to Tobago. It sounds too good to be true, so I'll believe it when it happens.........

A very long day of travel, but there's plenty of time to relax during the week near the pool or on the beach. AND, you all know that the more challenging it is to get to the dive site, the higher probability of EXCELLENT DIVING.
