Thanks, Walter. Already had mine taken care of, but for those others of you who own Sherwood BCs, here is the direct link:

Thanks for posting this.

I have a different brand of BC (a old Sea Tec Mermaid) and I swear it is doing the same thing. Last time I used it (about a year ago) I kept having to dump air out of it. It's pretty old, I will probably end up scrapping it and getting another one eventually.

Fortunately, one of my cave diving friends has been letting me use one of his spare BC's (his garage looks like a dive shop!) It's a really nice back-inflated tech BC - it's been on "extended loan" for a while now. Everyone thinks I am a cave diver when they see me in it!

Safe diving to all,
Laura

Thanks. One of my favorite new dive buddies has a Sherwood Avid, which is probably one of the recalled BC's. I sent him the page to look at. I'm sure he'll appreciate the heads up.

Sherwood Avid is my BC of choice, too. It's extremely comfortable, very sturdy, got plenty of D-rings, love the "click" of the weight integration. Can't recommend it highly enough, although I would have appreciated just a bit more width in the pockets (kind of hard to dig that slate or light out of the bottom of the pocket at depth). It is indeed one of the ones subject to recall, but the fix was a quick one.

Quick hijack:

Yes that is a drysuit I'm wearing. It's a Diving Concepts Ultraflex Pro. I can't say enough good things about it. It is well built, very rugged. I had it custom made, and they got the fit perfect. DC was a real pleasure to deal with.

Now back to the regularly scheduled BC recall thread in progress...

Jextract,

Did you actually have to send the BC back to Sherwood for the fix, or just swap out the inflator at the dive shop?

Erin,
My dive shop did it for me overnight. From my understanding it's a pretty easy switch. Tell your buddy to look to see if he has a blue button on his inflator. If he does, it's already been done for him by the dealer. The tag inside the rear trim weight pocket will have his serial number and he can see if it falls in the range 90010001 to 90350167.
