:wavey: My name is Sue, AOW certified.  I live in central PA and hate cold water, so I have to travel to dive.  I am divorced from my old dive buddy and have yet to convince other friends and family this is the BEST LIFE EVER.

I went on my last dives at Thanksgiving with Rainbow Reef in Key Largo alone, (still amazing) But I wanted to join this group to have some dive buddies and take trips to places where other people know the ropes.

I was looking at the Roatan Nov 28th (now cancelled) &  August Cozumel trips ...THEN Covid hit  :verysad:  :unhappy:.  I have been diving in Cozumel several times but I have not been diving with Whale Sharks yet and I have only been cave diving once and would LOVE to repeat that experience.  I have not been to Roatan yet.

Half of me wants to book the Cozumel trip now and the other half is still worried about what travel will be like in August.  I don't want to get stuck in an airport or country (especially since my son is getting married the following week.)

It's possible I might just head back to Florida this summer to wait out the travel problems and join an adventure next summer but either way I hope to meet up with some of you in person in the near future.

About me: 56 years old, 3 grown children, 4th grade math teacher, I love to read, love the beach/sun/ocean, funny movies, music

Favorite dive: Watamula in Curacao

I also loved diving in the Cayman's because there were so MANY turtles! (and eels)

I thought the diving was good in Bonaire but damn rough getting in and out of the water! Ooch, Ouch

Sue

Hello Sue and welcome aboard the club! :welcome: We see you also have joined the club's Facebook Group, which will keep you up to date on the latest and greatest opportunities the club offers for superior dive destinations along with fun but buddyless divers. :diver: You will be happy to learn we are exclusively a WARM water dive club (fearless leader Kamala  :blond: is totally averse to chilly diving). RRDC is one of our go to dive operators in the Keys, and while the club's main focus is on the best places to dive around the world we do organize smaller scale USA trips, our Goliath Grouper aggregation trip Aug 7-11 2020 is just such an example. Like Key Largo, the Gulf Stream sweeps past West Palm Beach and the wrecks are all in relatively deep waters so your AOW cert is a great match and may be a good First Trip opportunity. Of course since you mention Cozumel we will add as of now the club fully expects the travel restrictions will be lifted by later in the summer, BUT we respect your decision to wait a little longer and monitor things since a few spots remain available....

Bonaire and Caymans are also on the club rotation so our tastes in diving appear to match up with your nicely. Again, welcome and hope you are able to join a trip with us all soon!

Sue that would be marvelous! HERE is a direct link to the Goliath Grouper subforum, you will find detailed trip information and how to join plus Kamala, myself and other volunteers are happy to help with any questions you may have. I think the FL Goliath Grouper trip would be an excellent introduction to our club, our members and superb diving we are all about! :diver: :diver:

Hi Sue and :welcome:

We  diving as much as you do which is why we formed to club so we could all 'self identify' as scuba addicts!

A couple of quick thoughts as  I read YOU AWESOME INTRO!!! :wakawaka:  Can you tell we love when our members say 'hi'!!!  :cool2:

So before I forget....

One we are not a dating site...we are a buddy site but that has not stopped some of our members from taking that to the next level!

Secondly WE DO THINK COZUMEL will be open in aug because they are slated to open in early June and possibly as early as May 25th. I think the early June is the most realistic so all bumps and kinks will be worked out by Aug!

As Brad mentioned our LONG WEEKEND Florida trip is great for those who NEED TO SUBMERGE but now may have all sorts of financial or vacation timing issues.

And our Nov Roatan trips were consolidated into Dec 5-12 but we now have Dominica for Nov 14-21 and Nov 21-28 if you still want something further out.

So no matter what you choose.... Whalesharks with classic Cozumel diving or 'Darling Dominica' , "Roatan Rodeo' or Grouper Mania in Aug ..you can't go wrong. Oh and if you have ever dreamed of making your diving passion your profession one day...we have free workshops on what that entails on our Cozumel trip in Aug as if you needed any more great reasons to join that trip!

Feel free to splash around the forums. Start new topics if you like or revisit old ones.. and ALWAYS let us know if we can help in anyway via the forums or privately at kamala@singledivers.com or charlies@singledivers.com !  :wakawaka:

:hiya:  Sue and  :welcome:  to the fabulous world of Singledivers.com!!! Kamala and crew put together the best dive trips.  The Giant Goliath Groupers is a great trip, I was on it 2 years ago.  The Mexico trip would also be fabulous and of course Roatan is awesome.  That is one I was looking at.  You might also look at the Dominica trip in December.  Glad you found us and hope you are diving with SD soon!!  :wakawaka:

:welcome: Sue!

I grew up in the next state over, WV. Now in Portland, where the weather is gray and the water cold!

Singledivers.com found me when I was a single diver (because my other half was taking the day off) in Roatan, and I ended up on their boat! It was so much fun that I eventually made my way here. Most of my dive travel has been solo, and why not consider going to a SD trip if my schedule allows it. I'm hoping to take that opportunity sometime soon, too.

WHAT SHE SAID.... with one small correction... even if you better half dives you can STILL be a SINGLE DIVER and bring that better half with you to share our trips. Many of our divers are either married but the spouse does not dive, single not married, involved with a diver but can't dive with them all the time and now we even have a fair share of diving couples who STILL LOVE JOINING US!!!

And we'd love for BOTH of you to join us some day.... SOON if the diving gods and goddesses allow us to return to the sea!
