This all in one day will be fairly expensive. Ginnie is $27/day (unless you're full cave, then its $20) and Devil's Den also has a sizeable daily fee.

I've dove both and prefer Ginnie, as there's much more for me to do. Devil's Den is also doubles-hostile (they outright ban them, even light doubles like 72s), and since I don't even own enough singles tanks these days to do a day of diving, that's a major problem for me.....

If you haven't dove Devil's Den its worth doing once.... its definitely a unique site. Be ready for a loooooonnnngggg and tight walk up/down the stairs.... :taz:

Yes , Devils Den is definately DOUBLES UNFRIENDLY!!! They wouldn't even let me use my baby 50's...
Oh well...I reconfigured for singles and dove anyway !!!!
We were there about 3 weeks ago and the viz was a bit cloudy from what I remember. But we did have a great time...

I wouldn't mind doing them both , but if I had the choice to do one , I would ALSO stick with Ginny...IMHO...

So if you are looking for diver-type bodies , count me in ...

Anyone wanna have a race across the ceiling in the ballroom ??? :teeth:

Yep, Ginnie it is. I've never been there. Do they have a tank refilling station there? I just need to know how many to rent. I already know they have hot showers (unlike Rainbow River). Thank goodness!

And I'll bring some snacks, 'cause diving leaves me starved! :lmao:

Yes, they do fill tanks at Ginnie. If your buoyany is good, you can dance in the ball room, but be careful to stay off the bottom, you don't want to stir up silt. If your buoyancy isn't perfect, take off your fins, inflate your BCs a little and dance on the ceiling.

Cool. So Ginnie Springs at 8am until whenever. Sharon and I will bring some food and everyone will have fun. Sounds like another SD success in the making. I promise not to go into any caves! Looking forward to it. :diver:

Ah, you guys are tempting me- now that I've finally done my first fresh water dive & survived! I was in Spring Hill Thursday & Friday & took a spontaneous unplanned trip up to Blue Grotto- amazing visibility & also my first true overhead environment... :P The only problem was that the temperatures were colder out of the water, making it extremely difficult for me to do the second dive- I needed to warm up more.

Ginnie fills tanks, but has only air. For the ballroom that is enough of course.

For EANx go out the gate, turn right at the road, and go to the blinkin'-light. On the right is Cave Excursions East, or "CEE" as we call it.

They are friendly folk, pump EANx32 banked, will fill anything you want, provide 'nice' fills in appropriate (e.g. LP steel) tanks, and charge by the cubic foot - which usually saves you quite a bit of money.

The 29th is blocked for me as fun2dive is taking Cavern next weekend.....

BTW don't kid yourself on the Ballroom. Its a true overhead, and the exit is somewhat restricted. If you had an OOA there and had to come out on an airshare, make sure you can - or are diving with someone who has a long hose. They like to make it sound like the Ballroom is "safe", but you definitely can't go straight up and breathe the rock in there. If you go to the left of the grate there's a very nice little passage and "room" that qualifies as a CAVE dive - it is beyond sight of daylight!

Thunderstorms are predicted for Saturday. I've not gone diving during a Thunderstorm. I'm apprehensive about that; is my concern misplaced?

No, its not.

Especially in fresh water, believe it or not - the gradient is what's dangerous, and fresh water is actually MORE dangerous to be diving in during a thunderstorm than salt.

However, if it storms, just get out of the water until it stops.... :)

I once was DM'ing a class when a T-storm came up on a lake... (Fresh).
We BOOGIED out of there right quick...
I mean , it's cool to watch the rain sprinkle on the surface above you (and you can even hear the little drop sounds) but when we heard THUNDER...Well....

Checking the NWS , all I see is a chance of showers...Oh well :teeth:

Oh , I might be bringing some charcoal etc...to cook on one of the grills...If you want , bring something grill-type...

Yeah, I guess the forecast changed again; as it often does in FL. Looks like we'll have possible showers both days - no problems there. Sharon needs to kick her stuffy nose, though! Feel better, sweetheart.
