This is the first place that I dove after certification.  Put me on the list for 3 and 3 or 6 days of whale encounters on Week One.  Also put me on the Notify List for Dominica Week 2 which is all 6 days diving.  I will be bringing Letsdive07.

Laurel, again welcome to the club! :welcome: your name is on the Notify List for when the club's amazing Dominica trip opens for booking! :diver:

Pro Tip: Since this trip may open any time in the next few weeks, it would be wise to go ahead and have your Premier Member subscription processed:

 - Follow THIS LINK directly to the Membership (subscriptions) page (NOTE: Be sure you are logged in just as you did to post this in the topic!)
 - Select the radio button for Premie Member ($35 per year) then scroll to the bottom and click the black button "Continue to select a payment method..."
 - On the Payment Page, selecting Paypal will produce an automatic handshake with the subscription app; the Singledivers.com Payment Gateway requires manual processing which could take several days
 - Complete payment and you will be all set to book your spot when the Book Now gate is opened! :dancing:

Feel free to email trips@singledivers.com for help or with any questions, and again, welcome!

Julie your name is on the Notify List! :diver:

We have not yet posted Trip Details for the 2025 Dominica trip, however I am providing some details from our most recent trip in 2023, the amenities and general details will be very similar and in many cases identical so please consider this very close to what will be offered in 2025!

Location:  DOMINICA
Resort:  FORT YOUNG RESORT (The historic fort remodeled as a lovely hotel)
Water Temp:  82 - 84F
Air Temp: 75 to 86F
Visibility: 80 - 100Ft+
Experience Level:

  • We request Intermediate level or better divers with 50+ dives who are very comfortable with current so we can dive the pinnacles as well as hiding behind the reef/coral so we can dive the Atlantic sites. Contact trips@singledivers.com to help assess if you'll be comfortable diving here
  • For the SWIMMING WITH WHALES we request that you have decent cardio fitness so you can hang with them as they barely move in the water and we are 'swimming' to stay with them. OR accept that you are not that fit cardio wise but will enjoy the brief encounters in the water with them and of course seeing them from the boat.
  • If you are a new diver then you are typically a new traveler as well. Traveling to Dominica is not always easy but is easily offset by the AMAZING diving. The saying..."If it were easy to get here it would look like the rest of the Caribbean" is very very true. However without being a bit travel savvy and understanding that bags may not arrive for a day or two since the planes are so small, you will end up with people upset. That is why I target my experienced divers...they have enough diving and travel savvy and experience to recognize how pristine this diving is and THAT offsets just about every issue encountered trying to get there.
  • If you are new diver the boat can not go to the most amazing sites that are in the Atlantic...the sponges are so big a full grown man can lie inside of them, There are big animals and huge schools of fish...but if there are new divers the boat will not go to these sites in case of current.
  • While the diving is super easy along the leeward side of the island and those sites are still pristine compared to other islands, they are limited so if you have new divers you have to start repeating sites since the number of sites that are perfect for new divers is limited in number.  And If you dive/snorkel/travel the top rated destination in the Caribbean first then you have nothing to look forward too when you dive other places.

Trip Highlights Include:

  • Amazing Diving
  • Snorkeling with the Whales
  • OH AND THIS IS A LIONFISH HUNTING ....KILLING ...AND PHOTOGRAPHY TRIP!

EACH WHALES & DIVING COMBO PACKAGE INCLUDES:

  • 8 Days/7 Nights Deluxe room at Fort Young
  • 3 days of exploration and swimming in the water with WHALES up to 8 hrs daily. The boat will use a hydrophone to find the whales by listening to them 'speak and sing' underwater and then using their sounds triangulate to their location. 2 snorkelers/swimmers will be allowed in the water at a time with the whales and your expert guide. Each day has 6 people max allowed and each 3 day period constitutes 1 license for which your name will be on. So no substitutions or changes can be made once the names are submitted.
  • 3 days of (2) Tank Boat dives for 6 boat dives in the pkg  NOTE: Additional boat dives are available if you wish to purchase them.
  • FREE Unlimited Shore Diving (as long as we get 10 people each week signed up for "diving" which should not be a problem) including Night Dives (AMAZING SHORE DIVING at Ft Young where the shore diving is fab and you won't want to miss it!)
  • (1) FREE Guided Shore Night Dive (usually Tues or Wed)
  • (1) FREE Trafalgar & Titou Gorge Tour
  • Chance to do PRIVATE NIGHT SHORE DIVE with Dominican Dive Guide...usually legendary 'Brenton' $25 per person limited to 5-6 people (a photographer's must!)
  • Full hot and cold Breakfast Buffet + Omelette station
  • $10 lunch voucher for dive days for a total of $50 F&B credit on your Ft Young bill (Does not have to be used daily... can be used anytime you want)
  • Free Welcome Cocktail
  • Special Happy Hour Events & Pricing (around the pool...stock up at Duty Free in the airport especially now with direct flights from MIA to DOM and we will party at the pool and hot tub daily! Two drinks and your bottle is paid for.)
  • Other great give-aways!
  • Lots of 'Meets & Greets' to get to know everyone!
  • FREE DEMOS of BIG BLUE DIVE LIGHTS & special deals to OWN YOUR OWN BIG BLUE LIGHT(s)
  • Airport transfers (if you supply us your FULL flights details via email to trips@singledivers.com)

NOT INCLUDED IN DIVE/WHALE COMBO:

  • Airfare to Dominica (DOM)
  • Does not include lunch or food on the boat during the whale days. PLEASE bring something for lunch. (You can order a box lunch from the resort for an extra fee and use your F&B credit towards it.
  • Does not include extra days of diving beyond 3 days nor the ability to substitute a day of whales for an add'l day of diving. You can however purchase another day of diving if there is room on the boat if you do not wish to use all your 'whale days'
  • Does not include 5 of your 7 dinners (town is short 1-2 block walking distance to Dominica's varied foods! Check out the crowd favs"Highrise", "La Que" "Oceans Edge" and "Old Brownstone")
  • Rental, instruction and retail charges
  • Dive Crew/Hotel/Wait staff gratuities (usually15-20% of your land pkg cost or approx $200-300)
  • Instruction/Classes - will PROBABLY NOT be available on this trip unless we have guest instructors on the trip (other than possible lionfish hunting provided by the dive guides for $150 per lesson for up to 5 people max. Please let us know in advance if interested to set it up. Spears not included and not for sale on the island...bring from home.)
  • DIVE Insurance - is MANDATORY! DIVE insurance is VERY inexpensive. Even if you have insurance that you think covers DIVING ACCIDENTS and air lifts it is CHEAP to get a supplemental policy to ensure you are cared for.
  • TRIP Insurance - It is MANDATORY!!! . Dominica is challenging to get too AND as long as we are in the pandemic and flights cancelling left and right... trip insurance will be MANDATORY.
  • See INSURANCE section below for recommendations but we basically recommend DIVEASSURE for both diving and trip insurance or you can do others but hands down DiveAssure is the best.
