This weekend, I had the opportunity to finally dive with mahoneme. I met Maria in August at the Florida regional trip, but wasn't able to dive with her at the time. She's still in Florida taking Nitox and Advanced SCUBA Diver from a truly great instructor - MB. I was able to tag along on three of their dives.

Arriving at class on Saturday, I was sat in on part of their class. All three students aced their exams. Saturday evening, we headed to Deerfield beach for a couple of firsts for Maria. Her first beach dive and her first night dive. She was my buddy on the dive. We came across a Bluespotted Coronetfish that seemed to want to hang around with us.

Sunday morning, we met at the dock for a trip with Captain Tony on the Diversity. He dropped us on the Noula Express, a wreck torn apart by a hurricane several years ago, but a very interesting location with resident Yellowhead Jawfish and lots of life.

Our second dive was on Boca Artificial. As usual, the reef was covered with life. The best part for me was seeing the transformation of Maria's diving style. Her buoyancy control and trim improved dramatically in just the three dives I witnessed. By the time her class is finished, she'll be a much better diver than anyone would expect from her limited experience. She's doing very well.

Marvel, they're diving today and tomorrow. Give 'em a call and see if you can join 'em after work.

I'm happy you all had a good dive. Donna and I tried to make a beach dive today at Pepper Park near Ft. Pierce. The surf wasn't very rough, but I think if we had put our fins on before we went into the water, we would have been able to make the dive. Trying to get our fins on while holding the dive flag, getting hit with moderate waves, cause me to lose the flag, so no dive. I need to plan batter next time and make a better way to hold the flag to the float. A nice European gentleman and his little boy found the flag, but the pole was lost. Live, learn and do it all over again. The viz looked like it was going to be poor at best, but we wanted to try out Donna's new computer.

Put your fins on while on the bottom out of the surf.
