As divers we are blessed to be able to often times fly all over the world and experience not only the beauty of life under the water but also above the water thru some wonderful people home and abroad. Some of these people live in very improvished locales and one of our official SingleDivers.com charities gives back to the children of these diving destinations by collecting toys, school supplies, medical supplies and clothing for them and then distributes them to children in Honduras, Costa Rica and Mexico.
Toys for the Children at www.ToysForTheChildren.org has been providing children in these countries with a better life for many years now. SD jumped in late last year to support this great organization and raised $1000 for them. This year we want to double that and I'm sure we will as we'll be starting much earlier this year! AND we have been invited to help deliver some of the many toys & supplies collected in December to the children of Costa Rica.
In fact...one of our Sponsors, ScubaToys, has agreed to give 5% of all purchases made by linking from our site to his to the ToysForTheChildren.org foundation during March, April and May. That's right! If you buy anything from Larry at ScubaToys.com during March 15 or later, April or May and use the link on our website to enter his sight, he will donate 5% of all our purchases to the ToysForTheChildren organization.* That is awesome!
In fact we'll be looking for other sponsors that will do the same or similar types of programs with us.
And to further get us started...SD.com will donate $5 of every $25 premier membership recieved in 2005 to our charities!

And we'll be looking to add to our list of charities in 2005. Our members have expressed interest in charities that focus on diving and if possible children.
So far we have:
1. Toys for the Children
2. The Handicapped Scuba Association (HSA)
We plan to add 3 more diving related charities to our list in 2005 and we are also looking at setting up our own foundation for the ongoing charity work that SingleDivers.com plans to do. This foundation would have its own board and focus on raising monies for charities as well as the disbursement of funds to our selected charities!
