Hi everyone!

It seems we have a last minute chance to put together a private trip on the Fling this weekend diving the Flower Gardens off the Texas Gulf Coast!!!
ZD works the boats as head DiveMaster and has found we might be able to go diving this weekend if we can pull enough people together by tomorrow night.

We are going to put the word out to local diveshops that normally dive the Gardens but we also wanted to tap into our members that might want to hook up and go diving as well!!

Let me tell you...it is really awesome diving!!! And a great time will be had by all.

So here are the details:

1. You have to be in Freeport by 8:30pm on Friday night the 23rd which is south of Houston by an hour or so.
2. We travel all night on a liveaboard so that by 7am we are at the divesite and ready to jump into some awesome diving.
3. You will be fed until you can't eat anymore and the price includes snacks when you arrive on the boat Friday night...pre-breakfast before the 7am dive...full breakfast after it...midmorning snacks...pre-lunch snacks...full lunch...post lunch snacks...mid-afternoon snacks...pre-dinner snacks...full dinner...post dinner snacks...dessert....post dessert snacks...and then pre-bedtime snacks and midnight muchies. So it is safe to say you won't go hungry and the food is good and they always have nutritious/healthy offerings as well!
4. You will get in up to 5 dives on Saturday including a night dive and 2 dives on Sunday!
5. We arrive back at Freeport around 5:30 to 6pm on Sunday so getting back to Dallas is no problem.
6. You can dive either air or nitrox...nitrox is extra and you have to use the tanks boats. Air is included and you ONLY bring one tank with you that will be filled between dives.

Price: $365 + cost of getting to Freeport, TX
Nitrox add-on: $65 for the entire weekend.

It leaves from Gulfport? The Fling and the Spree used to use Freeport, it's a great trip but I can't make it this time.

Well folks, it is on again....we need divers.....I will be the DiveMaster this weekend and WW will be in the Galley. Lets get some people together and go do some great diving. You have until Thursday night to get on this trip.

If you have never been to the Flower Gardens, you don't know what you are missing.

Well, it was fun to try, but Gulf-Diving will not run the boat out this coming weekend so it looks like I will be land-locked again.  :dltears:

Woo Hoo!! The trip is back on!!! I need ANYONE in the TEXAS area that would like to join us for some exceptional diving to come along and see HUGE animals...including Hammer Heads!!!

Ok Texans...so the good news is that the TRIP is GOING!!! They have enough people to go so anyone we add is gravy!!

The boat normally holds 40 but we only about 15 so far. We will have the boat to ourselves...THIS IS THE WEEKEND TO GO DIVING THE GARDENS if you dove them before and especially if you have NEVER dove them!!!

Hey girl...I agree...normally this never happens and the boats are ALWAYS full! However I've been REALLY toying with doing a SD.com trip there...sounds like you might be in! Anyone else?

I've been wanting to make that trip for decades. Going with this group would be icing on the cake.

If we can be fairly sure that the trip doesn't blown off (I hear that is a frequent issue with this site), I would be in as well for a future trip out there myelf. The price for the diving and food is right which leaves the plane fare in my mind.

Let's try to do this with a little bit of notice when my vacation resets and I'd like to go.

I am aware of this. I have been involved in charters that have been blown off their preferred sites and I know that it will happen again. I was just saying that some areas are more notorious than others. That is why I said "fairly" sure and not certain. "Fairly" is actually a low standard, you know.

There are certain times of the year when the weather is less volatile! Having said that is sounds like I need to work on some dates for next year. Brian when does your vacation reset?

The standard formats are either 2 days of diving or 3 days of diving or you can do two trips back to back to get either a 4 day or 5 day configuration. I think we should do the 3 day format or the 4 day format as being a liveaboard you have LOTS of dive ops in a short period of time!

The configs are Sat/Sun and Thu/Fri as the two day options and Mon/Tue/Wed as the 3 day option. All trips require you to be at the boat no later then 8:30 pm the night before. To do a back to back means we head into shore to refuel and resupply and then head out again.

Thoughts???? Many dates are already filled for next year and I believe the calendar is full for this year as well but I'll check! Again...the idea will be to find dates less likely to blow out just like I do on my NC trips!!! -ww
