BTS 2005!

I can't believe how many people drove such long distances to help out in the booth...Mike aka WVMike and Z aka Scubaman! And of course those who flew in to help...Deb aka Dejah and Kim aka Fingrabber! WOW!!! And of course Ray for getting us started on the idea of doing the show and all the SD members who came to volunteer either at BTS or our booth! And then once we arrive in NJ the locals started to help out by setting up the booth and by escorting us around to get supplies, copies, food, you name it! When we ran out of sign in sheets and trip sheets not one but two of the guys went for more copies on a Sunday no less! Airport pickups...airport dropoffs...car shuttles to the convention center and dinner...the list just goes on and on! And an extra special thanks to the guys and gals that stayed til the end of the show and took down the SD booth for us since Deb, Kim and I had to fly back earlier than the show ended. And a super big thanks to Colin aka NewYorkDiver for shipping the booth back to me and for fixing some damage to the booth too! You rock dude!
I'm thrilled at all the new memberships we signed up at the show...kudos to Deb and others for doing such a great job recruiting new members. EVERYONE did a great job in this department as everyone had their own perspective on why SD is so cool to them. It was really great to step back and listen to everyone talk about something they really love!
Fingrabber, Tolly and Dejah were the Happy Hour gift sponsor queens and kings...they really rocked getting LOTS of great prizes for our Happy Hour! I now knight thee all the SD Smoozers!
We had 30 people make our SD Happy Hour including members from the board that we've waited a long time to meet in person and new members that we met at the show! (We would've had more but we were up against some pretty serious BTS events or otherwise we'd have doubled that number!)
We sold a lot of raffle tickets for the 2006 Toys for the Children Drive and I thank everyone of you who sold tickets and bought tickets...and to Scubaman for taking 50 tickets to sell for us! YES 50 TICKETS!!! So if anyone else wants any please let me know!
I'm just tickled by the great people we met from all over the NE and so will you when they start to filter onto the board! -ww
p.s. yes we got LOTS of pictures! I'll set up an album right now to post them all in! -ww

Zig the show founder stopped by the booth at least 3 times although Kamala didn't always think that was a good thing Can't say they didn't know we were there!
It was a long weekend but a lot of fun and wearing a BTS staff or exibitor badge (hint, volunteer to work the booth next year) got you special pricing on a lot of goodies, speaking of goodies, I won a Cooper River dive at the SingleDivers happy hour and a Dan Berg book from bts.
I'm sure Kamala will be posting how many signed up. Photographers we have our work cut out for us if SingleDivers has a photo contest because at least two world class photogs are now paid members.
Kamala was also talking up an up coming contest to plaster the worlds dive shops and boats with SingleDivers stickers but by the time you read this three have been stuck up in Brookville Canada.

Was great stopping by and visiting with the Charlies Angels of Dallas. Wish I could have volunteered time but the work schedule didn't permit. The booth was definitely busy the whole time I was around and definitely alot of interest from all quarters. And once all the new people do some intro's we'll have to set up a NY Happy Hour.

I definately had a blast and wish all the fun could have lasted longer, but unforunately duty here in Dallas calls and had to come back... :dltears: Thanks to all who helped out during the weekend and those which carted us around as Ww mentioned above.. it was great meeting everyone and seeing Ray and Dan again since our Cozy trip last Jan.
Just as a reminder for those who did volunteer your time please be sure to get that information to me right away on what you did and the hours/times you worked..
Thanks again!

BTW, has anyone seen my vocal cords?!?
I seem to have lost them right around the time I left the show to chauffeur (my privilege and honor of course!) the Bevy of Beauties from Texas back to the airport.

Next year, God willing, I'll be working BTS again, and this time, I'll credit my volunteer time to the SD booth. As a member, it's the least that I can do.
Heartfelt Cheers,
Rick
