FYI, most general aviation airplanes use regular air for their tires. Air Transport, Commuter, and Business Jets fill their tires with Nitrogen because of the reasons stated.

The mad Romanian is whacked. It is likely that he will find himself corrected in his attitude by a good tech instructor, or if not corrected asked to leave class to never go diving again.

Ah, it seems we are back to knocking air again. Helium is a useful tool, but to advocate that air is dangerous below 130 is simply wrong. It has a good record below 130. Where you draw that line is up to you. There are the practical limits we place on PO2. There are individuals that are out there that do not do well on it. There are environments where it is not a good choice (cave and wreck or other overhead environemnts). But, what drives me nuts is that those same individuals that believe we should have helium in our mix sitting here on the computer, would dive air deep if on expedition and that is where they find themselves rather than not do the dive. There is not some magic line in the water at 130 or 100 that air will jump up and bite you. Air is a tool and so is trimix. To say one is morally better than the other is a disservice to the community. NOAA still requires air use to 170 before going to tirmix. Most of the rest of the world view dives to 50M (165) as part of the normal deep diving arena. Meaning air is fine.

So, I would love to see people say they choose to dive trimix or air as their choice, rather than say trimix is it or you die below 130.

Funny, we have come full circle. Used to be people that said nitrox and helium would kill us and should not be used or talked about. I believe that a balance is actually some where in the middle. Just tools, why is there such emotions attached to this choice. We do not see this kind of emotion when we talk about regulators. Just another tool.
