Yes, I love living in southern California even with the smog... I envy you in Houston being so close to Cozumel, however, I have stayed with friends during the summer in Houston... It is so hot and humid!!
If you plan a trip to dive in the cold Pacific kelp forest, we should definitely put together an SD Dodgers field trip! There is nothing like Dodger Stadium & Dodger Dogs on a warm summer evening !!

Jen,
Yes, it can be VERY HOT and VERY HUMID here. A few summers ago, it was in the 100's here for two weeks. You could touch the sidewalks at 11 PM and they will still be warm!
If there is one thing I do like about Houston, we are a short plane flight away from just about any dive destination in the Caribbean and seldom have to catch connecting flights. I can get up at 7 AM to get to the airport and by 4 PM, I am getting in the water in Cozumel.
A little story along those lines, coming back from one of my Cozumel trips with a then-girlfriend, we were talking to another couple from Denver who we had met down there. As we pulled up to the terminal in Houston, I asked them when is their flight to Denver leaving. They told me it is scheduled to leave in 45 minutes! I did not have the heart to tell them there was no way they would catch their flight unless there was a major delay. I do not know if they ever caught their flight but I know 30 minutes after we got off our plane, they were still in line with us waiting to clear customs after claiming our luggage.

So I hear! Last month, I finally saw a game at MinuteMaid Park when they had the roof open, it was so nice!

A girl after my own heart.... Nothin' better than Dodger dogs on a warm summer evening. I just saw them wax the Diamondbacks when I was in Phoenix last weekend. Which reminds me ... can we TALK about the heat there? Holy crap!Hi Mitch!

HAH! The Houston airport is my own personal nightmare... coming home from Florida last November we were diverted to Baton Rouge because of thundershowers... when we finally got to Houston, SIX hours and a VERY bumpy landing later, my flight to LA had delayed 3 more hours, so I went to get something to eat... OMG!! The restaurant was out of almost everything AND had no wine opener, LOL.A little story along those lines, coming back from one of my Cozumel trips with a then-girlfriend, we were talking to another couple from Denver who we had met down there. Three gate changes for my outbound flight, in the farthest opposite ends of two terminals, and I finally got home about 23 hours after I had started that morning.
And customs in from Coz last February? 1.5 hours! What a zoo...
