So my AOW is next weekend. I was VERY excited, but as it gets closer the more nervous I become! Yeah yeah whatever.... I know!

So I was wondering if anyone had some advice, suggestions, cliff notes, heads up etc to share with me. At this point I need all the help I can get! :P

Also, I won a free Nitrox Class at the Jim Haigh Memorial Dive last weekend..... thoughts on this too would be greatly appreciated!

:welcome: :welcome: :welcome: :welcome: :welcome:

There's nothing to be worried about. Unless you have an unusual instructor, you'll just make 5 dives and get a card for it.

Just remember it is only a myth (wink wink) that the big megladon (gigantic pre-historic sharks) and carnivorous fish from the deep come up to feast on smaller fish and divers.

It is said their are drawn to the light, just like Carol-Ann.

:welcome: have fun.

I wouldn't worry about the advanced dives too much. If you need additional help with navigation, then you shouldn't feel bad about asking for more instruction

the free nitrox class rules! That is one of the most helpful certs to have as far as extending your bottom time in certain conditions, especially if you're doing multiple dives to 70' or so over a number of days. It will help you with your nitrogen loading

have fun!!

You'll love them - they're a lot of fun. If it's PADI you're talking about then no need to be afraid at all. Now, when it comes to the Rescue Diver course, that's when you should be TERRIFIED! :birthday:

Actually, what dives will you be doing? You'd be amazed how many requests we get here in Belize for ice or altitude diving!

I'm sure you will do great! The navigation portion is really not that difficult and, in any event, is a great skill to work on. My only recommendation, like others who have posted previously in this thread, is to relax and enjoy yourself!

Right after AOW, get your Rescue Cert. Most useful cert of all, IMO.

As for nitrox, if you're not going to use anything higher than 40%, (which would require advanced nitrox cert anyway) don't let anybody tell you that you have to have a nitrox reg and tanks that are O2 scrubbed. Tanks only have to be nitrox PREPPED, and you can use your current reg w/o any modifications.
