Call me silly....but 100' with no tank!!! How is that possible?? I don't know much about free diving!

Actually 100' isn't as difficult as it sounds - I was able to accomplish that while training with Pipin 3 years ago. It does take some training, but with the right training and some time, 100 feet is attainable. Takes a combination of pool and gym work plus yoga.

This weekend we provided the safety divers/emt for the Canadian National Free Dive Compitition

http://www.freedivecanada.com

the deepest depth was 61M(thats 200.13ft for the metrically challanged)

I have also shared air with divers every so often :fish2:

Not to be an ass, but are you looking to get bent??? The biggest pressure differential is between 15 feet and the surface, breathing off of someones tank at depth is setting yourself up for lung overexpansion injury or DCS...

NEVER, NEVER, NEVER breathe off of a divers tank when freediving... :-D

Amen. I've had divers "offer" me air while freediving. Always have to wave them off. :teeth:

Hi Cliff, :lmao:

I just saw your posts in the freediving section and thought I would say Hi!!

:teeth: (and happy belated birthday!) :D

How long have you been freediving? I started around 2000.

Do you dive up in the P/NW? Must be cold!! I got my NAUI cert at Nahant Mass. in 1999, So I can relate a bit. What is the water temp there in the Pacific?

We'll have to hook up on a trip sometime and freedive :bam:

Teresa

PS How do you like your Sphera Mask? how long does it last with the plastic lenses?

Hey Teresa.. Thanks on the b-day greets.. ;)

I have transitioned over to using the Cressi Minima - not as much angle of view as the Sphera, but the lenses are glass.. And I have a mild distasted for all things Aqualung...

Been freediving since about 1998 - trained with PFI, Pipin and this part January with Aharon Solomons at the Blue Hole in Santa Rosa, NM.

Am doing quite a bit of training right now - mostly dynamic apnea - 25 meters surface, 25 meters u/w x 32 sets. Add to that 4 negative pressure dives to kick in MDR before the dynamic workout. Am training to start shooting video while freediving and been in contact with a freediver over in Europe who is guiding me on a training program to be able to freedive and shoot video. We'll see how that pans out..

Mainly doing pool work right now - I don't do much in the way of ocean freediving up here in Oregon - crappy viz and nothing to really look at - I'm not a spearo so I just keep training and do some lake diving if I feel up to it.

Hook up for some freediving? - Sounds like a plan.
