Hey...I love "sweetie" and I agree with you on the poopsie...with poopsie...your either on Gilligan's island or talking about your grandmother's dogmuddled maybe...but youre still really cute but you don't call me darlin... Walter calls me darlin..
.oh yeah he calls everyone that...I think he even called dr.bill "darlin" hmmmmm here I go with the deep thinking again
Well, I *do* like to be original when I can, and since Walter has pretty much staked out "darlin", how about "sweetie"? I draw the line at "poopsie" and "sugarpie", though.
Cheers!
Jim
I too call people 'darling' and yes usually Walter drops the 'g' and calls ladies 'darlin'. The best part of living in the south is that EVERY woman from 8 to 80+ can and usually is called 'darlin'...and EVERY man is called 'darling'!!!
It just makes it a nicer world if you ask me...so call me 'darling' or 'darlin'...just make sure you call me!

The only true unconditional love in the world is the love a grandmother has for her grandchildren. And the love that your dog has for you.
That kind of goes with the prayer "Lord, help me to become the person my dog thinks I am."?

I too, used to say something quite similuar. I don't care what you call me, just call me. But after the things I got called, I droped that line.
Wow, so many heart felt statements in this thread.
First off, Scubahawk, I think it is “lust” that is a side-effect of alcohol poisoning. I could be wrong though.
DrBill, you said “Love is something that evolves over time between two people, not something that just jumps up and slaps you in the face.” I agree with you with the exception of the slapping part. My last love took time to develop from a friendship into love. But it slapped me in the face none the less. I guess because I was not looking for anything more than a friend it hit me pretty hard. But for the most part, I agree with you.
My last “true love” hit me square between the eyes. And from that point, I was hopelessly in love for the next eight years. At one point she re-assured me when I was feeling a little down. She told me that she did not love be in spite of my faults. She loved me because of them.
I will make my feeble attempt to define “true love”. True love is not where you can live with someone's imperfections. It's where you can't live without them.

It's my southern upbringing and, no, I don't call Bill, "Darlin'." I've been known to call him, "Bill," "Buddy" and sometimes, "Sir," but never, "Darlin'."
Whew!
However, drop the "sir," Walter my friend! I'm not worthy... and it makes me feel ancient. Too bad I was tied up with the important family issues when I was in Sarasota last Nov or we could have done some diving if you were free.

Wow, here in LA LA Land no one seems to know their neighbors and the only real interactions are between drivers on the freeway who call one another *ssh*le. Of course that's why I live on Catalina where things are a bit more personal.

I hadn't really thought about it but as a teacher...yep...all my kids are sweetie, honey etc....all the guys at the fire station are baby and honey..... I guess the closer the relationship the more "friendly" the name.I tend to call Kids "sweetie" and "kiddo". Guys i will tend to call "hon" and Gals "dear". For whatever that's worth.

I even call my son, "sir."
Anytime, I'd enjoy diving with you again.
