Hi all. I'm a newbie looking for guidance and of course lots of FUN. I'm 36 and work as a tool and die maker running the family bussiness. I live in Doniphan, Mo.(the dive capital of absolutely nothing). We do have a shallow river nearby with 30 ft. visability and great spearfishing, but the water is pretty cool. Look forward to chatting with you all. I'll upload a pic as soon as I get one. My interests are anything I feel like doing at the time. Mostly painball :fish2:, gardening, camping, canoeing, and floating the river with my friends. If anyone gets to the area please drop me a line and we will see what we can arrange. Oh yeah, I'm an awesome fabricator with the machinery and knowhow to make anything out of metal if you ever can't find exactly what you want or see a way to make it better I'll help you out (no I'm not very modest :teeth: Look forward to hearing from you all.

Hey there Mechanical31, welcome to the board. We really do have a blast around here. And of course, we are always looking for excuses to make trips around the country. I'm pretty sure we are planning something near you soon. Jump in, get wet, you've jsut stumpled upon hundreds of new diving buddies...all of which are great people!

Yeah I seen some talk about Bonne Terre, but everyone might be more interested in this.

June 26 - 27 -- Mermet Springs, Mermet, IL. http://www.mermetsprings.com .Saturday is the Annual Treasure Hunt to benefit Habitat for Humanity. Prizes will be auctioned off, and tokens found while diving will be as good as money for the auction. Registration is $50 at any participating local dive shop, or $40 at TDS, (314) 968-8099, 9836 Manchester, for those of you on this "Fun-dive Club" e-mail list. Register by June 20 to receive a free T- shirt

I'm definetly going, it looks like a blast. Maybe some of the members here can make it. If anyone is interested let me know and I'll see if I can work out some rates at the local motels and contact the dive club that is sponsoring it. :fish2:

Hey mechanical! Welcome to the place for the most fun you can have without getting wet. SE MO, huh? I used to do canoe trips down the Current River probably pretty close to your neck o' the woods. Such fun! Beautiful area with lots of caves to explore.

So where'd you get certified? And where do you go to dive usually?

Glad to have you aboard!

Welcome to our little group! :hiya:

I dove Mermet Springs 2 years ago, it was a really neat place. I loved going down inside the 727. It was spooky, but a good kind of spooky...like Halloween.
The staff at Mermet Springs is outstanding, their service it top-notch. We were there for DUI Dog days...got to meet Dick Long and everything.

Hmm, I just might have to join you out there...

Anyway, I digress...again, welcome aboard!

Hi coppermaus. Small world. Actually I have a cabin on the Current River just a few miles away from here. I also go canoe eleven point river close by. Yes I know several caves around here to explore, some are pretty good, but no places to cave dive other than Bonne Terre. The only diving I've done is at Lake Norfork and Current River. The river is very clear, but very shallow also. It was still cool.
