I want to gather some ideas for group travel for late this year and next year
so, please let us know where you want to go!
for example, do you want to go to Bonaire in September and keep the trip under $2000?

So, there were enough options offered, but not enough actually got off the ground!
One thing that seemed to work well when planning 2005 was the poll that WW put out.

that's the plan going forward is to get our trips out earlier
for example, I know we will do an anniversary trip next year in the month of January
we have seriously discussed Palau for next March
and the 4th of July NC trip is a Go!! for 2007
but, I think a poll is in order!

Australia had been on the list for 2007 at one point too.
I would probably not go on a trip to a "repeat" destination too many on the list that I still need to get to.

I saw that Explorer Ventures is starting a trip in the Galapagos November 2006 - I'd like to do that one.

Ah yes, the Explorer Ventures Galapagos trip
you can bet this will be on the calendar!
and Australia is still on the list, but I'm not sure what part of the year yet

I have one location on my list for next year.... Australia. I'll either go by myself if SD doesn't do a trip there...

Hey Scott,
have you looked into what time of year is best?
I've done some research already and I know that Explorer Ventures has a liveaboard out of Cairns and it can take you almost to New Guinea

Just a FYI - for any one with any medical condition - i.e. diabetes - Explorer Adventures told me that it's tougher to get "cleared" medically when diving in Austraila - so start early!!!
that is very good information to know ahead of time! Thanks Sandy!!

For Galapagos, you have greater chances of seeing whalesharks between early July and September and usually the live-a-boards are booked two to three years out for those months. If the Explorer are new to the area, we may have a better chance of getting a better time slot if we could do this in advance. I hate to get stuck with a holiday week like what happen this year with the Sea of Cortez because we didn't get our down payment in and the premium weeks are gone. I'm heading to this area with somebody next year if we don't do this trip with SD.
We also need to look at our cost range: trips less than $1000 vs. $2000 vs. $3000. When we hit the $3000 range, most people can only afford one trip in that price range a year. Palau, Galapagos, and Australia will probably run in the $3000.00 range and I'll probably only do one or two but not three.

For this year, I would still really like to see the trip to Hawaii (Big Island) happen.
Hi, sweetie
Maybe we'll just do a little get together of interested party. I just don't think we have enough people interested at this late date (for a free spot) and most people have made plans diving with someone else already.
I do want to pop over for a visit with you before you leave the island and stop in Kuai or Maui too.
