Well just got back from some "Utila Cattle Boat Diving". Saw three Whale Sharks so they are still there. Trip down not good here is what it took. DFW-Houston-San Pedro Sula-La Cieba-Roatan-Utila! And the same coming back but in reverse. Whale Sharks awesome over all diving good but not as good as Roatan or Coz.Liked the island and the locals and all those college girls from ALL OVER just out of school and learning to dive. Stayed at Mango Inn $35 a night with brk&Din. Went into the room one double bed one single a shelf a small tv same size as the bathroom and a plastic chair and one night stand. With lamp! Well where am I going to work on my camera gear??? Bruce from the dive shop got me a old sign ok this will work. You know I think I need a little more comfort than what I am looking at so off to the office I go. Well for another $40 per night I can get a balconey with hammock a wood chair some plants and at night I sit there and look at all the folks in the restaurant eating including ALL THOSE COLLEGE GIRLS who I could also observe at the pool from the same location, ya you got it I went for it. The shower four heads two cold two hot and that was they way it was, the water mixed on your body,so you had to rotate like a chicken at Kenny Rodgers to keep from scalding or freezing. Mirror in bathroom was for Wilt Chamberlane and I am just short of six feet. But I did LIKE the room over all. Utila Dive Center great people helpfull and friendly. What I did not like you humped your own tanks on and off the boat. I had to go find a tub and fill it myself for a camera rinse tank, I refused to unload it but had to find it the next day and do the same thing. 18 people on the boat plus captain. Boat was not designed for diving it was an after thought at best.Had to go and find the analizer for the nitrox each day but one and bring it back. Met some great folks on that boat though and went alone but always had some one to eat with or talk that was great. But for the price it was cool! And they do have great folks there but I hate crowded boats without some cowboys to handle the cattle! Ya I would dive with them in the slow season. Main problem was those college girls on another boat! I could have delt better with the numbers if they where on my boat. Mango Inn good food and over all the island had good food.I did have a good time and will go back "sometime". Use DEET only three bites. Plus whatever it was I dug out of my heel with a knife inside the puss bubble on me heel?domino22

I'm jealous I still haven't gotten my first whale shark yet. Seen lots of kewl stuff but that is one big mama I want to encounter. Living near Boulder I see beautiful college girls all the time. Only problem there is they are so damn young!

Sounds fun...I always love a trip that's "worth the money". I haven't seen any whale sharks either, but can't WAIT til I do!!

Well it was a good trip and cheap! The college folks had just got out of school and were there in droves. All of them learning to dive. Met alot of people and almost never ate alone. I should of tried "I am a DM". One girl I met had rented a room for $3.00 a night never did see the room but I do not think I would have stayed there. But she was diving every day. Met a DM from Colorado he was payed a dollar per tank per person in his group, big money!! He was going to stay till his savings ran out. Another DM made a $100.00 per week and he had the same plan. Out of 924 photos shot I was able to print 67 a little below average due to vis and some backscatter, and missed photo ops. Other than classes waiting for the Flower Garden trip on Labor Day, going to be a looooong summer. May have to fit in a Coz quickie!
