We'll I'm back from the California Scuba Show held in Long Beach, CA! It was fantastic and my first time to attend the show. We were on a waiting list for over 2 months for a booth but alas they only freed up AFTER we got to the show so could not capitalize on them. We did however find some innovative ways to spread the SingleDivers.com message.

We really want to give special thanks to NWDiveNews who put our bumper stickers up on their booth, put our cards out on their table and then called me to bring more as they handed them out to all the single and buddyless divers. It went something like this...

NWDiveNews: Have you ever tried PNW Diving?
Show Attendee: No but I've heard its great. Unfortunately I don't have a buddy who'd be willing to try it with me.
NWDiveNews: We have lots of willing dive buddies and this is the group that will help you find one. They help us do our 'dive buddies' at our Treasure Hunt & Dive Show each year...here take their card and check them out!

This exchange was played out many times during the show as I watched it myself. A huge :thankyou: to our friends at NWDiveNews !

We'd also like to thank Henrik at Wakatobi Resorts for handing our cards out as well. He not only offered our cards to single and buddyless divers but he has crafted some some great trip ideas that you can choose from as SingleDivers.com does the S. Pacific! Be watching for a poll with these options...I just can't choose there are too many of them!

Randy at Explorer Ventures has secured us a coveted December date for our Australia trip...now to work out the land based sightseeing details and we'll be set! We'll post the dates today and liveaboard pricing so that you can start planning your dream vacation to the Great Barrier Reef, Coral Sea and more! Thanks to Travelnsj for noticing that Sept would still be too chilly for Australia and that Dec would be much better! :respect:

And speaking of Travelnsj...he joined Leo aka 2CaptRon and myself for dinner on Friday at a wonderful eatery in Southern CA. I am not sure how the gals who live there stay so slim...the food is fabulous but also very healthy. I was in food nirvana!!! :P And I'm not sure how Scott aka Travelnsj stays single...I saw a number of lovely ladies eyeing him...but at 6ft 2 or 3 (maybe taller), broad shoulders and blond hair...how could you miss him! (Yes ladies he will be on the Holbox/Cozy trip in a few weeks but alas it is sold out. We'll just have to get him on more trips then!) :P

Leo aka 2CaptRon was one of the nicest surprises of the weekend! Although he hasn't posted an intro yet...and he will! :D he offered to pick me up at the airport...show me around some lovely parts of Socal such as Long Beach and surrounding areas and my personal favorite Seal Beach...then zip off to the show to get badges, connect with other vendors and finallyoff to dinner with Scott travelnsj and an evening of fun with not one but TWO Crazy SD guys!!! :teeth: We picked a local favorite that is a living legend...had some calamari to die for and sushi that made my mouth melt and some fine CA wine! Of course that all paled to the company and the scenery! :cool2:

Leo continued to be the 'host with the most' being SD's private transport and personal escort to the sights and sounds of the local ambiance. He was a tremendous host and very accommodating to my grueling work schedule at the show. :thankyou:

Several other vendors agreed to display our cards including a new group I met called ReefChek whom I'm very much looking forward to working with in the coming future! We looked at doing a Singles trip on the WindJammer Cruise line...of course we talked about more fun things for the Roatan Singles Week we are doing with Fantasy Island and even talked about doing some singles diving cruises! (Be looking for several new polls asking for your ideas!) Nick with ScubaDiving Magazine a long time supporter of SD has a surprise or two in store for us but its a bit early to say so you'll have to wait a bit longer to hear the good news! :P

And we looked at great new travel ops for the future. Yes it was a great show! We even met a few characters from the LA County Dive Certification program (you guys know who you are...and both actors too!) who hopefully will be joining our team as local dive coordinators, staff instructors and more!

Yes there is more to come...so stay tuned and I'll post throughout the next couple of days! -ww

Sorry that I didn't make it over to the Show to finally meet you, Kamala. One of the problems with living on an island... if you miss a boat, there isn't another one in 15 minutes. Glad it was a good experience for you and for us!

WW,

I had a premonition that this would be a good show for you-I am delighted to hear you had a chance to go!! Sounds like you met some great contacts and having done a Windjammer-that would be a hoot!! (curious as to how they would handle a large party of divers).

Thanks for the report!!!!

:thankyou:
