I was SO excited I actually went THROUGH the bus. its wasn't terribly deep, about 44 ft, but was deeper than I have been, and I actually went THROUGH IT...........can you tell I am excited......I can't wait till I can dive to an actual wreck !!!!!!!!!!! This undoubtably is the best thing I have ever done in my life.
WOW!! What a great recount of your experiences! Yes a new wreck diver is certainly in the formation!
Gotta love THAT!!!

Second, I have a suggestion to make. Stay out of overheads, any overheads, even swim-throughs. And just forget about penetrating wrecks for right now, that takes serious, hard-core technical training on manifolded doubles just to bring it down to a moderate level of danger. You can get into a wreck, and the slightest incorrect fin-kick can blast the viz, making it impossible to find your way out. If you blow a first stage or an o-ring in a wreck, you can be out of air in seconds, and it might be several minutes' swim to get you out of the wreck. On a single tank...well, you get the idea.
Don't get me wrong... not trying to hand down wisdom from the mountain, just a couple of thoughts from a fellow diver.
Take care, and safe diving!

If it's an overhead AND you need a light, stay out for now. Especially as you are having buoyancy problems.
I'm a newbie myself, but have read enough to know to keep myself away from this type of danger.

Congratulations. I think you mirrored in intent what most of us feel when we dive. I dont think the excitement ever goes away, at least not for me.
Welcome to your new addiction

Which of Alabama's (beautiful?) quarries were you diving? I am in Huntsville and we have a quarry up here. I think the Pelham quarry south of Birmingham has a bus, but I have only done one dive there for my AOW. Just curious.
Congrats on getting your latest fix of dive crack.
