For me, there is never an off season. It does get a bit rough in the ocean, causing the cancellation of a number of dives (I hope to get back into cave diving in the Winter). No question about it, I do less diving in the Winter due to Mother Nature's whims. This gives me lots of time to catch up on the rest of life that has accumulated during the peak diving season.

One thing I try to do all year round is to keep up with continuing dive education in one form or another. This might include researching and writing, taking courses, or just reading some great diving books. If the weather is off during a planned diving day, continuing education also makes great use of this down-time.

So, what is it that everyone does during the off-season to keep the diving mind sharp and ready for the next chance to hit the water? Why not try to do some of this all year 'round? It can be a lot of fun even if it sometimes requires work. :welcome:

The "off-season" is my busy season. This winter I'll be in the caves, working on getting by buoyancy back with the drysuit. I'll be taking a blending course, trying to finish my cave course, and learning more stuff around the shop.

I'll probably get 50 or so dive between December and March if all goes well. I might also try to pass DIRF again if I am pleased with how things are going. At this rate, I'll be full cave certified before passing my first GUE course!

It's that short period right after your last dive and just before your next dive.
