Nutrition for Quick Healing?

Had to ride out since this was miles from the parking lot, and several hours later finally made it to the ER. I'll spare you the really gory details of what they did there, but the end result is that I'm stitched up (the white thing was a frayed tendon) and once again on the road to recovery. Arg. :dltears:
I'm a bit depressed about being injured again -at the beginning of summer!- and wanted see what nutritional advice y'all might have to help heal this thing up fast. What are the really good healing foods? I'm a mostly veg, eat fish occasionally, but I'll do whatever it takes to heal. Sprains, scrapes, bruises and ACL tears are old hat now, but this is a new kind of injury for me.
Also, any ideas about how to quit getting damaged all the time are welcome, apart from giving up the active lifestyle, of course.

Sorry, can't help you on the diet for healing, other than to suggest lots of proteins.(to help rebuild the "bits" you removed)
get well soon!

Bummer news girlfriend! Try taking bromelin - it's a natural digestive enzyme made from pineapples. Available in health food stores. The enzymes helps reduce swelling and inflammation. I read about a study where some boxers took it, and their facial bruses healed much faster.
I used it once for a badly stubbed big toe..it had turned completely black from the swelling. It was amazing how quickly it healed after I started taking bromelin.
Good luck!

Going to apply a healthy dose of bluegrass and mountains starting tomorrow. That should fix me right up, as long as it doesn't rain/snow the whole time.

when will you chronic over-achiever types learn that exercise is BAD FOR YOU????? i have NEVER ONCE seen somebody avulse an ACL from layin' on the couch. no body ever loses a battle with the channel chucker. and unless you fall off the couch, your head will be free from fractures.
seriously, maus, vitamin c is great. protein. calcium.
and who says beer doesn't go well with percs??

LOL. Well, let's see... the docs, nurses, pharmacists, drug manufacturers, everyone but the brewmaster. Must be a conspiracy by the medical industry to keep people from having fun!and who says beer doesn't go well with percs??
Been eating a ton of green veggies, fruits and salmon straight from Alaska as well as popping the whole multivitamin cocktail. Got the dressing changed yesterday. As Frankenstein as it looked, it was much better than Sunday night.
Off to lounge around for three daze without getting one lick of exercise!
