It's Winter time - you know you're a diver when you're scraping ice off your windshield INSIDE your vehicle...!

Drbill, I'll bet you are you going to tell us you've seen this behavior elsewhere with other species - you always bring so much more to the table!!

Interesting article although I'm 99.99% certain I've read other accounts of cooperative hunting between unrelated marine species.
As scientists spend more time underwater (and less time in stinky labs!), they will gather more information about such behaviors. I can think of a number of behaviors in marine species that I've observed, yet been told they don't happen by some non-diving scientists. Fortunately I had footage to document most of the interactions.
This is an area where recreational divers can often provide new information for scientists, especially if they are underwater image makers and can provide documentation. If you see something you consider out of the ordinary, get images and ask scientists in your area about your observations. If they are good scientists with open minds, they should be interested. I often obtained info on marine life from local commercial fishers who were out on the water far more frequently than I was in the days I did a lot of classroom teaching.
