POLICE ALERT

Be aware of new car-jacking scheme Imagine:

You walk across the parking lot, unlock your car and get inside.

Then you lock all your doors, start the engine and shift into REVERSE, and you look into the rear-view mirror to back out of your parking space and you notice a piece of paper stuck to the middle of the rear window.

So, you shift into PARK, unlock your doors and jump out of your car to remove that paper (or whatever it is) that is obstructing your view...

When you reach the back of your car, that is when the car-jackers appear out of nowhere, jump into your car and take off !!

Your engine was running, (ladies would have their purse in the car) and they practically mow you down as they speed off in your car.

BE AWARE OF THIS NEW SCHEME THAT IS NOW BEING USED.

Just drive away and remove the paper that is stuck to your window later, and be thankful that you read this email.

I hope you will forward this to friends and family...especially to women!

A purse contains all identification, and you certainly do NOT want someone getting your home address.

They already HAVE your keys!

Even if this has not been happening across America...it certainly COULD happen so being aware of it makes good sense to me!

Where has this scheme been reported?

I rec'd this as an email however I posted it because it is plausible even if it has or hasn't happened already. I could not find it under urban legends but it certainly could happen therefore I thought it wise to be aware of the possibility.

Speaking of car jackers. In my last concealed handgun class, they asked, "When is it advisable to shoot someone over property?" They got the usual answers from the class. The real answer is during a car jacking, because 70-something percent of car owners are killed during a car jacking.
In this case it would seem advisable to run like hell in the other direction, but that's not what people do. They run after the car saying, "Hey! that's my car!"

Sure glad I don't own a car (or even a golf cart) here on Catalina... and the one I keep on the "Big Island" of southern California would require an idiot to steal it. The day I bought it, a kid yelled out of his car... "I'll fix those dents for you." It looks that bad and that is good. At least I'm one southern Californian who isn't defined by the car he drives.

Aw Dr. Bill....you mean you don't call the indentations on your forehead 'dents'??? :lmao:

No worries...I still love them no matter what you call them! :diver:

My current car is still fairly new, but I keep cars until Mexicans start to make fun of me. I once took a car in to get some mechanical repairs, and the guy said, "People usually bring their whole car in" I said, "It's all here" while pointing to the front end which was in the hatchback. Fenders are only decorative, anyway. That car was never in an accident, really.
