If ANY of you have the audacity to wish me a "Happy" Birthday when I turn 60 later this year, I'll cut your damned regulator hoses! Just send gifts (dive related of course, mermaids accepted).

You're turning 60!!!

I thought you were in your 30's, that's why I've never hit on you :)

LOL! Yeah, that's why... :-D

(You know I luv ya, Bill! :banghead:)

May I suggest a solution similar to SB where they list birthdays on the bottom of their Main Forum page instead of an auto-post. It looks something like:

Today's Birthdays:
WreckWench Shadragon finGrabber NurseShark Moose...etc.

You're a tad late. That's been part of this site since the beginning.

Well, there actually have been several (including some of my peers and a sweet young 4-year old) who have guessed my age at 35 but it isn't true... I'm proud to be my age, I just don't act it!

Hey drbill, I will have the audacity!! And then you can wish me the very same a mere 6 months later. I think we both have braggin' rights. Although now that you mention it, a gift or two is always a nice option. :lmao:

I also find the plethora of "Happy Birthday" messages when I search for New Posts rather annoying. Without discouraging people from posting, perhaps another option would be to turn on the function that other boards of this type use (including SB), whereby one may exclude certain sub-boards from inclusion in the "New Posts" search (User Contol Panel -> Miscellaneous Options -> Exclude Forums from "Get New Posts").

That way, people who want to ignore the Happy Birthday messages can exclude them from their New Posts search, while those who want them can keep them included. Without such a function, the problem will only grow worse as new members are added.

Well I like this site better than scuba board because it IS small and personal! I log on and can put memory of the people I have met on trips and at happy hours with the names of the regulars that appear.
Birthdays don't bother me, I like to wish people a Happy Birthday.

I'd like to see people post more topics. I go on scuba board for the pictures, information and topics but don't know anyone except a few that I recognize that have the same names. I had to change mine because it was already taken. There are so many people and posts that it is so impersonal.
I like it here. I have even acheived a "people are getting to know me status" lol. I"M SOMEBODY! lol.
Anyway so post something interesting! Steal it from the "other" board!

LOL. I didn't get upset at all, I just fixed it myself! :clapping:

I agree with you Damselfish, I like it here. What's the big deal about skipping over a few posts if you don't want to read them. It's always obvious which ones are birthday wishes, so just don't open those. Seriously, is it that big of a deal??? :clapping:

I have to say that I hear where FritzCat66 is coming from. On some days, there are TONS of birthday wish threads where some members are playing catch up and post to several in a row or particularly after a weekend (sorry I missed your bday diverdeb - quit having your birthday on the weekend days when I am diving, would you? :birthday:).

In response to this issue however, members may have noticed that many multiple birthday wishes are groups together by day, but there are just some of those members that grab you who you just want to personally wish individual birthdays too. :birthday:

FritzCat66 thanks for your thoughts on this and I'll look forward to your diving posts! :clapping:
