That's quite a long drive together. I bet it will be a good relationship builder. Some of the best fights I've had with my wife have been in the car.

Damn!! And I already gave him keys...

On a serious note, thank you everyone for your well wishes :D

Connecticut's loss is Canada's gain. All kidding aside, George, this is great news and I wish you both the best.

Now just 'cause you're running off like that doesn't mean that we shouldn't expect to see you at Beneath The Sea in 2008, does it? It wouldn't be the same without you.

Best,

Rick

:welcome:

Congrats to you both! Somehow I think you guys will make it cross-country just fine. However, George may not get a presentable shirt for his going-away bash. However, I am willing to bet you might have a new pair of shoes!

Things happen. A ldr isn't easy, glad they had the patience to stick it out. Now he's going to have to learn cold water diving, he'll be in the heart of some world-class cold water sites. Road trips are fun, I drove from Lake Worth, FL to Seattle several years ago, I really enjoyed it. But then, I only had myself to fight with.

George & Michelle, I would like to add my congrats to both of you and offer my best wishes for your new life together. Briny is right, a long-distance relationship is not easy, I tried it on two different occasions. Both times, we lived within three hours. For you two to make it this long that far apart says a lot for both of you.

Tolly and Michelle... wish you both all the best in this new direction in your lives. Sigh, I'm just a romantic at heart... and this is a nice story with a happy beginning. And I thought SD was not a dating site!

So you want to leave New York for Canada do you??? Here are a few tips for when you cross the border, so you don't stick out too much...

We use kilometers per hour, not miles per hour...

Driving distance is measured in hours, not miles...

Hope this primer helps... Welcome to Canada, eh...

:canada:

Well of course driving distance in Canada isn't measured in miles! Is this like asking for an 8mm bolt two inches long?

Well, 3500 miles later, George and I arrived home on Friday. The trip went extremely well and we got to see some wonderful things on the way. While my parents swear to me that I saw Mt. Rushmore, the Badlands, Devils Tower and Yellowstone National Park when I was 5, I will just have to believe them given my limited to no recollection of those places. These really are places worth taking your time to see.

The weather cooperated and the driving went well. Happy to no longer be driving though!

George gets to get settled in and I get to start a new job tomorrow. No rest for the wicked :(
