Got a letter in the mail yesterday from PADI with a certification card in it. The title of the card was "Jr. Equipment Specialist - Must dive with Adult if under 15" on the top... Now I did take the Equipment Specialist course recently, but is this the right card?? The "Jr." part and disclaimer gives me pause. It sounds like one from a youth program...

Yes it is for under 15 however now you know PADI and they know you.. So if your IQ is under the legal age then.............

Sorry I couldn't help myself.

Sounds like a clerical error. Get your instructor to fix it, not that it really matters, it's not a card you'd ever have to show.

How do you like my Nitrox card.....?

Posted Image

I have used this to dive nitrox many times since I got it in 2002, no problems, but only recently noticed that it does not say nitrox...?!

Nope, not on the front, either - but I don't think such ever is...

I think I will ask Padi to replace this...

Yeah I know: I've been branded a non-group person - doesn't play well with others. I am so upset. Posted Image Let me know if you want to have some fun, without the drama - I'm good for that.

What could you possibly need such a card for? To whom would you need to show it?

I don't. I am more concerned about having the correct course reflected on my records for any future training or career advancement. Not sure if you saw the earlier posts in another thread, but I am currently missing my OW qual and three other specialty courses from my official records. That is holding up my MSD application until it is sorted out...

DandyDon - Just get a stencil set and add whatever you want on there. "Nitrox Diving Super Dude" would be my vote... Also, you may want to take your personal info down (Back side of your card) as it reveals quite a bit about you... Don't make me send you my Public Education PPT on Hacking / ID Theft and just how easy it is... :P

justscuba - When I grow up I am SO out of here... :cheerleader:

But the MSD is like the equipment specialist - even more so.

I like that idea, or how about Diving Super Dude-Voodoo Gas?

Funny, I used that card many times for Nitrox before I got my Rescue-Enhanced Air card. I guess they just pretend to check. I've dive Air many times without showing a card - seems to help if you have used bag, used gear and an old dive shirt, the salty diver look. I wonder if any have thot about checking my cards after they see me dive...? :birthday:

Thanks for the suggestion. I started to paint that out, but just removed it...
