I lost my best friend from college last year due to a strange and very rare form of brain cancer so I can certainly empathize with you as you face the loss of your friend. Both of you will be in my thoughts as well.

Oh Teresa...that is very sad news. I certainly have him in my prayers and you as well. It is sometimes harder on those who survive than those who go.

Thank you Kamala and everyone else who has replied. The hard part is that his body is slowly shutting down now that he is not receiving treatment. The good part is that he is no longer in any pain.

It's the idea of his brain and mind shutting down gradually over the process that is hardest to bear. I spoke with him 2 weeks ago before he left and he seemed his usual self. Now I can't really talk to him anymore. Glad that I told him I loved him while I could.

We often forget to tell people we love them...and then regret it all our lives. It only takes a minute...not even that. I am sooooooooooo glad you got to tell him that he was special to you.

And it is soooooooooo hard to watch the life fade away from something we love.

Again, please let us know if we can do anything for you my dear...we'd hope that someone would offer if it were us! And please know that you are loved too...

Kamala, that does mean so much.

I just received the sad news that my friend Douglas died this morning at 1:30 am EDT. He passed peacefully in his sleep in the presence of his family. On his last day he was awake, content, and comfortable, for that I am thankful.

He was a great friend for 18 years. I will dearly miss him.

Just prayers for peace of mind through all this. I have sooo much anxiety right now, I feel like I could shatter sometimes.

I have a lot of other stresses on top of losing my friend. Trying to succeed in my new job, trying to build savings again, trying to keep my current car running another year without sinking a fortune into it, maintaining my relationship with Emir while he is in Atlanta, etc.

Just pray that I will have inner peace and relief from anxiety, and that I will be able to find optimal solutions to all of the above, while grieving the loss of my friend. The problems above are small in the big picture. I know I have important work to do in my time here on earth, and don't want to get bogged down by the small stuff.
