Well Christmas is upon us...

For me we pack up and head to Grandmother's house at 2 today, stop along the way for some last minute items and start the festivities once we get there. We'll do early church with my sister and her family then dinner. A bit off egg nog and mulled wine, visiting and one early Christmas present will be the agenda for today. Then its up in the morning for early 'Santa presents' at my sister's house to see the kids and do our family gift exchange. Then back to 'Granny's' to prepare Christmas dinner. Dinner at 5 or so and then comotose for a few hours and then plan the 'after Christmas sales' intinerary for the 26th. As we shop for after Christmas sale things, we'll make our way back to my house where my new husband will have been staging things for the moving van showing up on the 27th. My mom will help me to supervise the movers so that my antique furniture will be loaded correctly and the walls/woodwork will have no additional need of repair.
Not quite our traditional Christmas but the packing and moving has to happen!
So what is everyone else doing?

I'm spending it alone this year, but don't feel sad for me... it's by choice. My son was out here last year so he'll be with his mother this year.
My plans? Late this afternoon or early evening I'm going to watch "Amazing Grace" on DVD. I thought that might be an appropriate movie to get me in the spirit. Then I'll attend late evening church services because they remind me so much of the tiny church my family attended when I was young. Yes, I know, the church ceiling may crack as I walk in tonight, but at least my minister is a former divemaster so he understands (I think).
Tomorrow I'll open the gifts and call my sisters and son. Mom is up north with my middle sister so I'm glad she will not be alone. I thought about going diving but I only have 500 psi left in my tank so I'll stay dry.

My cat won't care that I am working Christmas day but another new customer surely will. My son is 24 so he doesn't care about Christmas anymore either.

Just spending time with Mum here in Mount Barker where it's already 29°C (84°F) with a forecast of 34°C (93°F). BBQ lamb chops and sausages (a grill for you Americans LOL) and salads for lunch.
Already seen Santa delivering lollies today...
Merry Christmas and may yours be a wonderful one.

We had birthday dinner and she and my brother (whose birthday was the 21st) opened their presents. We always keep Christmas Eve as a birthday celebration. But now that Kirstin is older, she "lets" each of us open one present on Christmas Eve. She got me the book "Skinny Bitch" which is hilarious and I told her I wanted or she never would have bought. (I highly recommend it by the way, it's a hoot). Tomorrow we will tear through the rest of the presents, have Christmas dinner and just hang out and enjoy being together.
We usually hit the after Christmas sales and buy expensive Christmas ornaments for 1/2 price.

I was working. Can you say "double time"?
Gotta love the financial impact...its not always bad either! And I often do wonder about the folks that have to work on Christmas so the rest of us can relax and enjoy.
Thank you for your gift of service!
p.s. too bad I'm not one of your passengers Greg!
