getting an error message on the link. Don't know if not finished yet or just a typo... look forward to the summary. Suggest the Location - Date -estm'd $$ in the title and then short summary in the smaller detail box, with the full detail in the sticky thread...
Hope that helps.. see you on a trip sometime...

Kamala, you have such an email base (4000+) of which I have never seem an email from unless someone has PM'd me. Perhaps more usage of the email base will bring in members that don't visit frequently enough back to the site :birthday: and with a cleaner presentation you're working on you'll get a better fill rate :thankyou: It could be as often as monthly to bi-monthly or even quarterly.

just a thought........

for me it is important to have a set cost for the trip. I have a finite budget as well as set vacation time. It does not work for me to have the prices change after making the plans for the trip. Once the trip is posted and reservations are being taken with deposits being paid, then that should be the price regardless of price changes. If the dive destination is not willing to lock in a price at the time of booking than I would say don't use them.

I have been diving all over the Carib as well as Hawaii and many domestic destinations and until Saba I have never had the price go up after paying for the trip. This makes me leary about booking a trip when I don't know what the final cost is going to be. I understand that there was a mention on the Dive ops website about the possibility of a price increase after the first of the year but then again, I did not book through the dive ops website. I had no reason to look at their website to see if the price was going to increase especially since I had already "paid in full"

As another example, last fall Wakatobi had a deal going where you could book dates for 2008 and get the 2007 pricing. That was a missed opportunity. The price of the Wakatobi trip has gone up so much since the original post that I will have to pass on it.

I have a trip planned with some friends to go to AKR this coming August. We booked that trip last Sept. The prices are set in stone. We know the dates and the prices. We have already booked plane tickets as well.

going forward for me, I won't book a trip unless I know exactly what the total cost is going to be before I make a deposit on the trip.

So far the attraction to the SD trips for me has been the group that is going. As it seems that the Package price is seldom less than the rack rates that the destination is advertising. I could have actually gotten a better deal on the Belize trip last year if I had booked through Nekton directly but I wanted to be part of the group.

So to narrow this down to what would be important to me?

Set the price and stick to it.

Set the date and stick to it.

If the Dive op is not willing to cooperate - find a different Dive op.
