Also, since my shop just became an SSI shop, they're going to help out with the crossover certification for DiveCon.

Tech Support - The hard we do right away; the impossible takes us a little longer...

Way to go!!! Congrats and welcome to the club!! Cool that your shop is SSI now too. Now I need to get you into the TechXR program so I have another person to come dive the "O" with me - do you guys have a TechXR instructor there???Woo Hoo! After six weeks of classes and pools and exams, we just had our lake weekend at Balmorhea State Park in Toyahvale TX (nice place, 75 degree water year-round, crystal clear, and lotsa fishies---AND the weather was awesome!). Now all there is to do is the internship work so's I can get The Card.

You don't need tech to dive the O (although it can give you more options), so tech or no, come on over! And let's go diving!!!!!!!I'm in North Texas, Deb...my shop doesn't even offer a Wreck Diver specialty. I'm not sure I'm even really interested in Tech Diving, although the appeal of some of the deep wrecks is there...especially the Mighty O (and the Texas Clipper, even though she is on her side).

The Mighty O is the aircraft carrier USS Oriskany; it was sunk as an artificial reef off the coast of Florida near Pensacola a couple of years ago. The only problem for us non-techies is that the flight deck is at 130'...

But that's not a problem - the flight deck is the most boring part of the ship. You want to dive the tower which is only 68' at the top, so there's TONS to dive within recreational limits. The tower is the size of a 6 or 7 story building. It's huge!! You can have lots of dives on it without seeing it all. There lots of cool swim throughs too - very safe, all doors, hatches and windows have been removed. You can go into 3 different bridges and swim out through the windows. For some photos of the wreck go to the link below. (Sorry my quicklink won't work from this computer). But DON'T give me grief about the first photo! Of 200 or 300 pics Jesse had to choose that one - hey, there was a really strong current that day and he was making me stay in that spot for a really long time! LOL. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.Where have you been? Oh, wait---up there in the Great White North!

So far, dive trip-wise, this year is taken up with Cozumel in May (a week doing the reefs and some cenotes in the Yucatan), and Dry Tortugas & Flower Gardens with the singledivers crowd.
SO, "down below" may have to wait...
