I have a question, After they were done, did they cuddle and talk, or did the Male crab roll over and fall asleep????

Naw, he probably just reclined back on the reef and lit up a cigarette! :)

Ah, my encounter with the mating sheep crabs must have energized me... I am exuding confidence and sexuality. Just met another woman diver in need of a buddy (second in two weeks). This one's Asian, a professor at UCSB and has a Ph.D. from Yale (I gave her my condolences). Why we could become Dr. Dr.

Dr. Bill,
I really hope this one works out for you. You seem to be a nice guy, for a liberal.

Sophia/Susan- How dare you apply such a label to me. "Nice" guy... really! Thanks for your thoughts. Far too early to tell but it may have been a few threads on this board that have made me break out of my shell as a "bio-geek" into an assertive red-blooded American male!

No sexual encounters on yesterday's dives... just LOTS of scorpionfish for some reason. Had to focus my video work on defense mechanisms instead.

scorpionfish are definitely cool but not very active to video. Might as well just take stills of them.

chinacat46- ah but scorpionfish can be quite interesting to video. For example, filming their dorsal spines rise as you approach (and lower as you retreat), eye movements, occasionally the "yawning" threat display, catching them as they swim away (yes, call me JYC Jr., I will induce behavior in my subjects if I must... such as playing matchmaker for sheep crabs).

Oops, gills are drying out... it's been 18 hours. Time to get them wet. Have a great weekend everyone.
