I can't believe it... five minutes after ordering an $80 power supply on-line for my "dead" video computer, I try booting it up and it's working! Probably a good idea to replace it anyway.

Now that I have access to the files on that computer, I can offer what you were all waiting for... the smut! For a 130KB collage of 20 mating sheep crabs, CLICK HERE!. I'm getting turned on just looking at this stuff. Of course this is just a promotional teaser... if you want the full 10-minute video, just send $100 in unmarked bills to me and I'll mail it in a plain brown paper wrapper!

I'll be writing a "Dive Dry with Dr. Bill" column on the encounter in a few weeks. I already have new columns on abalone poaching and leopard sharks ready to go. You might check out this week's column "Carnage at the Casino" about kelp bass and a bird tearing into a trapped school of jack mackerel. No sex, but lots of violence (so it gets a PG rating).

Yep...always easier to live the simple life with a few of the aforementioned amenities...personally I'm glad he retained his 'power supply'...aside from the great shots...a man without a 'power supply' is indeed a lost man!

Jextract- as you recognized, one who depends on his camera equipment and video editing computer can't complete eschew (Gesundheit!) the products of the economic system. I used to mention this to my high school and college students who wanted to be "strict" environmentalists yet also wanted their stereo systems, cameras, cars, etc.

However, I have lived the simple life myself for months on end and truly enjoyed not having to touch a computer keyboard!

And WW, I will heed your PM shortly (no, board members, she was not disciplining me for my "in your face" sexual content).

TF- I never was a sweet, unassuming bio-geek... just more subtle in the early days. I guess I had you fooled!

Just showed my house mate Iris (a non-diver who rents a room from me) the trimmed but not edited sheep crab mating footage. She was amazed at how human they looked. Must admit, even the trimmed footage was pretty good. I'll probably edit it down to about 5 minutes of final footage though. As another female friend said, I don't know many men who last longer than that anyway.

I have a question, After they were done, did they cuddle and talk, or did the Male crab roll over and fall asleep???? :teeth:

Which end is up?

ddierolf- Following copulation the male held her gently (a function of his being exhausted rather than sensitive IMHO), then she worked her way out of his arms (er, legs) and ran off. My housemate was just amazed at how "human-like" the encounter appeared.

I do enjoy it when I get interesting behavior on "film." As I've said, the two primary functions of any species are munching and mating. I also enjoy getting good feeding behavior recorded, but not quite as much as hot sex!

Time to get that housing sealed and dive!!!

DRBILL I did get a chance to feed rays once, It was an experience that was facinating. It didn't take long after introducing the food that there was a swarm of them around me.

Which end is up?
