Okay, I'm gonna chime in. This is the ONLY interactive site I particpate in. First because it is diving. Second, is the perception that I can actually "see" who I am interacting with. Third, I can sort of navigate it and not feel like I am wasting my time. The who viewed me last initially did creep me out. I am defiinately one of those persons that will look at a profile and maybe even look at it again 2 days or 2 weeks later. I often will read a post and then pop in and take a look and sometimes forget I "visited" that person and will do it again!!
I will replace the avatar pic in the morning(swear)...its just to make a point
As much as I actually like the pic, prefer seeing the real person
Thank you pmarie! That is quite a complement and we VERY MUCH APPRECIATE being your online diving forum of choice! As with everything we are growing and the web designers of our message board try to stay current which means they are following today's hot trends of social networking and its success.
At first I was worried that if the system left a cookie saying that your profile was looked at people would be worried. Then I realized what if no one looked at your profile...what a sad, boring, stuffy, uppity, or just plain NOT FRIENDLY place would we be percieved to be?
And then I also realized that if the same people always looked at people's profiles and they NEVER posted, said hello, never traveled on trips that we'd be able to reach out to them and help them get over their shyness since they obviously want to be part of the group.
Remember you can NOT look at another person's profile unless you are a premier member of the site. This means that we have financial information on everyone of our premier members so if for any reason their objectives were not proper...we could track them down and respond accordingly.
p.s. I like Bubski's REAL picture better too!
