Hi All -
Just a quick note to say hi since I haven't been on in quite a while. Working 12+ hour days since the fires started and just don't want to look at my computer afterwards. But I'm off today and enjoying catching up.
So I've had to cancel/postpone my Cozumel trip and yes I'm looking for and will accept any sympathy that comes my way! :-) Now I'm looking more seriously at the SD November trip!
Thanks to those of you who gave me advice on my flooded Sea Life digital camera - as advised I took it back to the LDS for them to return and was sent a new (newer model) camera for free! That's great customer service and quite a relief since I had only used it on a few trips so far!
Also, we've had an addition to the family, (NOT my idea) Hurley a rescued puppy 12 weeks old, Black Lab & Golden Retriever mix and he is the best/smartest dog ever! LOL If I feel like this about the puppy how bad am I going to be when Amber makes me a Gram in another 10 yrs?
OK, that's all my news so I'll shut up for now. Hope everyone is having a GREAT weekend!
Stacy

Hey Stacy!
Thought you were doing like I did last year and going AWOL!
Anyway, we do hear about the fires out there and I can imagine it is not a fun experience. You and your fellow Californians are in our thoughts and prayers. Hope they stay away from you!
Bummer you had to blow your Cozumel trip! But it is hard to get any sympathy from me! You have been there, what, 10 times this year! Shoot, I have not been there since 2000! I do hope to change that this year!
Like your puppy! Golden Retrievers and Labs are very smart dogs on their own, this one should be no exception. Be forwarned, he might get to be HUGE! When I was a teenager, I had a Golden Lab that weighed 90 pounds and could stare me in the eyes when he stood on his hind legs (and I am 6-2).
Keep posting and don't be a stranger!

What a sweet looking puppy!!! Congrats on the addition to you family. Stay safe in the fires, and hopefully you will be able to dive again soon.

Hey Stacy - hang on in there! Love the new puppy, but Hurley doesn't seem too interested in your diving mags!

Sorry you had to cancel your trip but hey, on the bright side you can go dive Folsom Lake and pretend you are any where in the world. Since you can only see 5 feet it could even be true. Any way stay safe and get those fires out as I am on my way to CA next.

Thanks so much everyone! Your support and kind words mean so much! I am back in the office and revitalized after finally getting a few days off.
Things are looking up with many of the fires out or mostly contained.
Even though I love the mental picture of me out performing acts of heroism, I work in the State Operations Center here in Sacramento so I am never in any physical danger - just stress, dealing with the press, fatigue and deflecting the occasional pass from boys made brave by so many hours spent in close proximity! Our fire guys and the National Guard troops we sent out are the ones doing the tough job!
Duty calls, so more later!

Stacey,
Glad to hear you're doing well, and the puppy is too cute. Pretty soon Hurley will have you wrapped around his little paw and then we'll see who the Alpha is in the family. It's amazing how eaily a 4-legged furry friend can manipulate almost any adult.
Now, put those fires out...
