Ok its time to contemplate just how awesome 2008 was in terms of diving and other accomplishments. How many trips did you take last year? How many SD trips did you take? How many dives did you make? Did you pass a significant milestone? Did you get that next certification level? Did you get your open water certification this past year?

Share with us your 2008 diving and OTHER accomplishments! :birthday:

I received my open water in January during a trip to Florida. Went back to Florida in June to get my Advance open water.

I met a great group of people on the Halloween trip in Cozy. Where I more than doubled the number of dives I had previously done. :birthday:

Can't wait to do it all over again next year

Maurice I've said it before...you and your instructor are AMAZING...you looked like you had at least 10 TIMES the dives you have. When the sheet said 12 I thought it was 120!

And it is WE who can't wait for our exceptional cabana boy to join us again on a trip or three! :teeth:

Of course I did not get enough dives in 2008, can you ever get enough? I did log 29 dives, and did aprox another dozen unlogged solo dives. I know that is so few dives compared to most divers. I did my 1st solo night dive in 2008, it was much more eerie than I thought, but I will do more. I did 1 SingleDivers trip, I wish I could afford more. I took my nephew SCUBA diving in Lake Superior, he was certified in college, but hadn't been diving in anything but the lake our cabin is on. He had enough fun to convince his then fiance, now wife, to get certified. I found and raised a 30 hp outboard motor. I also have now been tobacco free for 10 years now.

Keith we wish you could dive more with us too....besides adding some REALLY GREAT eye candy to our trips.... :birthday: you are a GREAT diver! I will however take all I can get so if one trip a year is it...then I consider ourselves BLESSED! :birthday:

And being tabocco free for 10 years is a TREMENDOUS accomplishment...right up there with solo night dives...ok ok...so actually above solo night dives! :birthday:

I did one SD trip to SABA/St Kitts, and a two week trip to Roatan. Logged 70 dives this year and got my Nitrox cert. Passed the 650 mark on dives. I had some big plans for 2009 such as Thailand and Dominica but with the economy the way it is, I may have to scale down a bit. I keep looking for that SD trip that will fit into my schedule, maybe one will pop up this year.

70 dives is alot! And I hope one of our trips will line up with where you want to dive as well! :thankyou:

Of course if we can help you book your other destinations let us know! And if you don't do Thailand this year we are doing it in 2010! Might look at Dominica as well! :teeth:

Somehow---I've been able to squeeze out enough time here and there to have only one skill left to perform for my NAUI Divemaster cert. IF I can ever get the time to train for it properly, I hope to knock that out early 2009. (It's a timed swim of 450 yards.)

I also went to work with Cochran Undersea--the folks who build those snazzy dive computers that some of you have used on SD trips to participate in DAN research--handling worldwide customer service/repairs/upgrades.

..and I still ride herd on Sparky the Wonder 'treme, almost a career in itself!

I managed to somehow do more than 100 dives this year. I think I was maybe out of the water about 12 weekends give or take. I'm still playing at Divemaster. My diving goal in 2009 is to make one trip at least out of the state, perferably out of the country :thankyou:

That is great news about your DM my dear! And of course Cochran...they are one of our favorite partners! They provded computers to SingleDivers.com to collect REAL WORLD DATA from our divers so that DAN can improve diving related data for DCS models etc. :thankyou:

No aquarium, no tank in a marine land, however spacious it may be, can begin to duplicate the conditions of the sea. And no dolphin who inhabits one of those aquariums or one of those marine lands can be considered normal.
