:D

Hey all,

Just found this board when I was looking for trip info.

I'm a landlocked sailor/scuba diver/surfer in Medford, OR.

I just got back into diving after a 10 year hiatus and am loving all the new advances in equipment (thank the master dive master for dry suits).

I've got my 100 ton captains license and have contracted with Rogue Scuba Charters (Brookings, OR) to run their new boat (26 ft Custom Fishrite set up especially for Scuba Charters) during the summer months.

I'm interested in talking with anyone (but especially female divers :dazzler: ) about diving, sailing, surfing or just life in general.

Have a fantastic day and Embrace Life!

Gary

Hey Gary, welcome to the site! Sounds like you'll be keeping yourself in the midst of diving soon. Hope you get to spend some time in the water yourself this summer, not just on the boat working.

Good to have you here!

Hi Gary.
Great to have you on board. I know Oregon diving doesn't provide a lot of opportunities (grew up in Salem), but stick with us and we'll have some great opportunities for you. In fact, be sure you check out the Bonaire Trip for June. It has all the makings of a classic week of fun and diving!

Hi Capt Gary!!! Ahoy and Welcome!!! Ok so I don't know a lot about sailing but my friend just bought a beautiful sailboat so I'm about ready to learn quite a bit more!!! About sailboats that is...regular sailing..well I leave that to the experts!! LOL!!

So you are getting back into diving and hope to find plenty of female divers...well you came to the RIGHT place.... :dazzler:

thank goodness you didn't ask for female OREGON divers!!! LOL!!! :)

Well we hope you just 'dive in' and make yourself at home. Feel free to post new topics or reply to existing ones...and certainly think about joining us on a great dive trip or two or six!!! LOL!!!

Sounds if if you want to meet mermaids...and we DEFINITELY have mermaids!!! :D Welcome!!! And who knows...maybe we'll do a regional dive in Oregon....gotta figure out what there is to see first...but its possible!! LOL!!! :P

Hiya Cap,

welcome to the board! Just thought I would let you know that I knowthe Medford area very well. Although I was raised in So Cal I spent my Junior and senior year in Grants Pass and before I moved to Albuquerque 5 years ago I hailed from Crescent City for 12 years. While I was in Grants Pass I got my water fix being a fanatical kayaker and rafter (did some fishing also). I am a veteran of 23 logged lower rogue trips. I even spent some time in Medford where I worked for KBOY Radio and Gold Hill with KRWQ. My band used to play the Sporthaven in Brooking fairly often. I still have relatives and friends in Applegate.

Glad to have you aboard!

Hey all,

Thanks for the warm greetings.

Most of my diving has been in temperate (So. Cal) or warm waters (Jamaica, Hawaii, Costa Rica, Sea of Cortez), so its taking so getting used to the cold water.

That being said, I'm finding the Southern Oregon Coast to be undiscovered country as far as diving is concerned. I am compiling detailed information (lat/lon, bottom profiles, etc) about the places we are finding. Its kind of exciting to think that I and my buddies may be the first persons to dive each location we choose. Have gotten tons (not literally) of scallops and the spearfishing (my buddies, not me) is excellent.

I dive with the Rogue Scuba dive club and they've set up a dive to Crater Lake in August. Another site that has seen very little diving activity. There's still openings if somebody wants to join us.

I have a two friends that just retired, one in Bonaire and one in Kauai, so will be visiting those places soon and hopefully, often.

Take care, Have fun and Embrace Life!

Gary :2cool: :wow: ;)
