Lets see how this looks: :wakawaka:

I saw this link and wanted to know if anyone would be interested in going to the Dominican Republic and diving at John Chatterton's place.

:tears:

Pirate's Cove.

I had a chance to be on a dive boat with John Chatterton and he was talking up the Pirates Cove resort. (Granted he is a part owner) But from what I have heard it is a nice place. They have all the tech toys to play with as well as some great dives both recreational and tech. There are dives to see cannons and old Spanish ship anchors. I would be interested in doing this in 2010. Maybe add this to the discussion for 2010 and see who else might be interested?

Sounds good...would you add that to the discussion thread? Thank you! k

Is this mostly a tech oriented resort? If so what offerings?

They have a pretty extensive web site but other than that I don't have any other information.

I have been exchanging emails with John Chatterton ever since a online chat he held a few months back. Yes, he and Richie Kohler offer tech classes at Pirates Cove. I have been looking into that myself as it appears to be a good value ($1500 for classes, diving, meals and accomodations).

However from my research, if you really want to go for rec diving, they appear to be on the opposite side of the island from where the better diving is (they are north, diving is south). If I was going to do another rec trip there, I would be looking for places on the southeast side of island.

As far as tech classes, they offer the full TDI/SDI list of classes from intro to tech through advanced Trimix. There are also some cave related classes. Richie Kohler also teaches a rebreather class down there.
