The biggest challenge is someplace warm that is ALSO reasonable!

Some resorts survive all year off the SURPLUS they charge in this timeframe.

This year I got a good deal over Valentine's to St Croix...it was WARM, and inexpensive...its one place we could do again and probably get a good deal.

I can see if we can get a good deal for Fiji but they are VERY full during this timeframe so not sure the great deals will work for high season.

Bahamas is usually high during this time but worth checking out. So tell us WHERE you want to dive during the COLD months of the year!

p.s. Several members are getting married in St Thomas in Feb of 2010...so looking at St Thomas, St John or St Croix is an option for next year...does that sound good to anyone???

According to the folks in Palau - March is the best time - so I'm guessing that would apply for Truk, Guam, Yap etc as well
No aquarium, no tank in a marine land, however spacious it may be, can begin to duplicate the conditions of the sea. And no dolphin who inhabits one of those aquariums or one of those marine lands can be considered normal.

Caribbean is always a safe bet. Thailand would be one of my preferences though. :cheerleader:

I liked Dominca and would go back. There's plenty of other things to do there when you're not diving.

I'd go just about any place warm in that time frame.

It must be a bear to plan trips. Is there an an overall plan? I know there was a trip every month before. Are you trying to do 8 or 10 trips a year?

Hmmm ... What about the Virgin Islands, either US or British?

Then again, what about Australia? I'd love to dive Ningaloo Reef...mebbe play with some whalesharks...

Posted Image Waitaminute... I haven't been past the edge of the NA Continental Shelf yet, so unless it costs a bloody fortune, I'd love to go about anywhere!

Ready for Australia.... more than ready.

Last time we went, the AUS$ was 1:1, it's down to 1:1.36. Unfortunately - Nimrod Explorer was sold, so they're not running the trip we took. A Mike Ball trip is about US $2500 now for 7 days retail on their website.

IF YOU GO - I strongly recommend taking as much time as possible before or after the diving. Australia is the best country I've ever visited - think Texas without the sanctimony. And you can read and write the language.... SWMBO and I spent 3 weeks touring Melbourne, Sydney, the Gold Coast and Cairns.

I'd love to see Perth and the western reefs.

Of course, spending Christmas on Christmas Island would be truly epic.
