$10k to be an investor? ... could we split this up between 2 or 3 people? I was looking at the schedule on the Mel Fisher website and it didn't look like we're diving that many dives. Since you're spending $5k already, Kamala, I could come up with the other $5k and we could be co-investors? This may be a question for Mr. Shawn Cowles.

Yes they will allow two people to split an annual investor commitment of $10k.

And $1500 of the $2500 will apply to the investor portion BUT that is only one (1) discount of $1500 if two people on the Adventure Week trips split the investor cost.

Kamala:

I know that one of the primary purposes of this dive trip is to get 'hands on' with helping scope out and possibly raising treasures off a known ocean site.

How would Fisher's people feel about my primarily documenting by stills and video what the SD contingent does on this trip--getting the viewpoint of a participant up close and personal? This would probably limit my time spent searching the bottom, and I don't know if they would go for that. (Ultimately, I might be able to get an article out of the experience.)

Also----are tanks/Nitrox/lead provided?

John I can run it by them...we are doing something similar with Dan aka ScubaTooth on the first trip and they intend to have a professional team photographing and documenting the first trip for marketing purposes. However you can always come and document for your own purposes provided any use of the name Atocha, Mel Fisher or Atocha Adventure Dives is sanctioned by the Mel Fisher organization. They are not difficult about it but obviously prudent about the use of their names.

We have just found out that the Fisher Family will credit $1500 of the $2500 we've paid for the week towards an investor position if you sign up within 30 days after the trip.

VANDENBURG UPDATE:

We dove the Vandenburg as a special today....normally its extra but being the first group they surprised us. It was great! There are about 7 mooring lines to the wreck so it can handle many boats as well as provide safe return for divers if needed. Some lines go to 90 feet and some only 45ft depending on the mooring. We dove 2 dives on the Vandy and she was quite cool...I can assure you it's worth the small amount extra to dive her in August. -ww

No nitrox needed...depth is only 30-35 ft and yes tanks and lead are provided for the actual atocha dives, the check out and finning training dives and air 80's as well as lead is provided for the Vandenberg dives. If you want nitrox it can be secured via a local dive shop in Key West the afternoon before you dive the Vandy which is usually on Wednesday. So on Tuesday afternoon you will go and pick up your nitrox for use the next afternoon. As long as you return them that evening by 7pm you will only be charged for one day's rental if you use Dive Key West and tell them you are part of the Atocha Adventure Dive Week.

Hi, well I just went to Key West June 4 - 10. I could go on and on for hours of how cool and all the stuff that I thought it would be great to do someday? We found fishing weightts, coins and a wedding ring on our Tuesday check out dive. 88 minutes bottom time. Then dove Thursday and Friday on the ship Dare on the trail of the Margarita. Thursday 3 foot seas and high speed current, we put on about 30 lbs of solid lead weight and dropped to bottom 25 ft. I totaled 225 and 155 minutes bottom time. It was so exciting and fun to assist the comercial diver with the air lift and actually digging in holes with silt and sand that were never dug before I dug the hole! I really did find two pieces of pottery. The Fisher's gave each diver a musketball with documentation. Also, they said they will send us pottery. The ride out to the ship is an adveture! Each trip from the dock with Captain Chris is an adventure. Then I chartered Captain Chris on Saturday to take my step daughter and me on a dive trip to the Vanguard and a reef. Really super cool and very worth the time. Yes, I did wear a gopro. Now I need to learn how to edit, cut out the oops and long shots of the inside of the boat. Then I will be sharing with the Fishers and Single Divers. Yes this trip is worth the money. I went with two non divers and we took the trolley tour, ate out, and rode bicycles up and down Duval street. There is not enough time in a week to do all the stuff to do in downtown Key West. The Truman annex is worth the whole cost of the trip. We had keys to the fence around the Truman Summer Presidential Annex, we got to let ourselves in and out. Pretty cool! Also, there is a State Park at the Fort at the back of the Truman Annex.
The other best part was the tour of in the restoration area of the Fisher Museum. Also, getting to wear a 4 foot long heavy gold chain and 2 pound disc of solid gold! Did any of you ever get to hold and wear 5 pounds of gold at once? I did, my wife did, and my step daughter. The family also really liked the Sail boat sunset cruise! I do not have enough to invest today. I wll go and do this 2,500 trip again just to go out and work the air lift and search on a 500 year old historic ship wreck.
