What a great trip! I have major KUDOS to give and some incredible stories to tell.

On the heels of AMAZING assistance WreckWench received from American Airlines, I have another story of simply INCREDIBLE service from employees of American Airlines! I left Denver as the storm started on a flight leaving at 6:45 am… or at least that was when we were scheduled for take off. We left the gate close to on time, but needed to go to the deicing station on the tarmac. A fifteen minute procedure turned into an hour and a half before we could take off. Needless to say, I didn't expect to make a connection that was scheduled an hour and forty minutes from our original landing time. As connecting gates were announced we all scanned the airport map and I saw NO WAY I was going to make my connection. When we landed I heard an announcement that anyone on the Cancun flight needed to meet someone just outside the airplane door and not head up the jetway. I was met at the airplane door, escorted down steps to the tarmac and joined about a dozen other passengers in a small van. We were driven to the connecting gate, taken to an elevator, and dropped just feet from the entry to the jetway to the next flight. I was surprised by the service, and a little skeptical that I'd see my luggage in Cancun… but I misjudged. From everything I could see, not only did I get my luggage, but so did everyone else who made the connection. I am not a frequent traveler on American Airlines, I hold no status as an elite customer or anything like that, but after service like that…I'll look at their flights more closely!

I haven't tried the ferry and bus service from Cancun to Cozumel, but after following WW's information about the flight between the two, and meeting up with Clint and Dave we headed to terminal one and it was smooth sailing (er, flying) into Cozy.

This was my fourth trip to Cozumel, and I still enjoy seeing all the variety it holds. It was a new experience to see the wreck C53 as well as more familiar scenes of Palancar Gardens and Caves and the other reefs. Plenty of turtles, more nursesharks than I've seen on other trips, sea urchins, a variety of fish, and much more. The company was great and I had a great buddy in ScubaClint on my last two dives! :o

It was great to see old friends and meet new ones… and I even stayed awake in the evening some of the time!! :D :P

When it was time to leave, another thing happened that is one more reason I know the people involved in SingleDivers.com are terrific. On the flight home I'd half fallen asleep on the flight when I heard a terrible thud in the plane but didn't register it, then I heard a bunch of shouting from passengers around me. A woman was walking down the isle and fell head first on the floor. George aka diveteacher and some other passengers quickly helped assist with medical care for her. She was dehydrated and from everything I could see, George did the majority of care for her, walking her back to the back of the plane, keeping her from falling again as she passed out a second time, checking her blood pressure, and putting an IV in and giving her fluids. Major Kudos to him! She was alert and sitting up by the time we got to the DFW airport.

We all ended up splitting up at the DFW airport and Scott and I were able to catch an earlier flight to Denver. I'll have to take a raincheck on catching dinner with you WhichWayUp and WhichWayDown!

Looking forward to another trip with this wonderful group of people!

Glad you got to get on an earlier flight! You have an open-ended raincheck on dinner!

I have to say this was my best trip yet!! Met lots of wonderful SD'ers. People that don't know about SD just don't know what they are missing!! Thanks to everyone that made this a great trip!! :o

Rod.....did you ever get to Parasail???? :P

Sissy,

I never quite got on the Parasail :D , just means I'll have to make this trip again :) (or another one) to complete that task.

You couldn't be more right that people who don't know about SD don't know what they are missing.

What a great trip, even though I didn't get to dive, everyone made this such a great time.

BTW, scarriest part of the trip.... On my trip back to Cancun airport ( I took the ferry) I decided to take a cab instead of the bus. I think the driver was practicing for the Indy 500 and thought it necessary to drive 100mph and weave in and out of traffic. I almost had to kiss the ground when I arrived at the terminal! :o

I posted a video of my pics on youtube. Anyone who wants me to delete the video PM me and I will do it. OK so there might be some incriminating evidence. I know one girl who used a sick call to be on this trip.

Wow what a trip. I just got back Tuesday night and had to get up first thing Wednesday to be at work. I was supposed to do three dives on Sunday that turned into four. The afternoon dive was a two tank trip and only had four people on it. Talk about Fernando’s magic. Two of the people on the dive had never been on a boat dive before and had less than 10 total dives. We gathered together at the surface and started our decent. As soon as we started down in the sand right underneath us was a large stingray. When we reached the bottom and leveled out I looked up on the reef and spotted a nice size turtle feeding who was not the least bit concerned when we drifted by less than an arm’s length away. I then looked ahead and a 4 foot nurse shark was coming right at us from out the distance. I turned around to see how everyone was doing and in the lee behind the first coral head was an adult spotted drum. At that point I looked at my computers and had a grand total of 3 minutes of down time on that dive!!! Later on in that dive I got pictures of a splendid toadfish and the largest red banded coral shrimp I’ve ever seen. I think their first boat dive was memorable!! I know it was for me. The second dive I quit counting sea horses at 5.

I thoroughly enjoyed everyone on the trip and had a marvelous time. The dancing with all the beautiful SD women was a highlight of the trip. I love to dive wrecks. So when the opportunity came up to dive the C53 I requested that dive. I was absolutely amazed at the level of buoyancy control and situational awareness displayed by every single person on that dive. On several occasions I put myself at the top of a room and used my canister light to illuminate the room for everyone to see as they filed thru. No one got back on the dive boat with rust on their wetsuit from bumping into the structure. Truly a great bunch of divers here at SD.

Stan, Lauren, Yian and I dove as quad on several dives and I wanted to thank each of them for a great trip. I will post some of my better pictures in a few days when I get my internet connection sorted out at my house.

WW another great trip, kudos to you!

Nice pics! I hear the sick day was wiped clean because weather in the area caused the business to shut down for the day...
