Hey everyone pls join with me in praying for John aka Platypusman'speedy recovery from his diving accident where he broke his ankle. He is traveling to the US tomorrow after his wonderful vacation to Australia was shortened by a bad shorediving entry. Here is an excerpt from one of our exchanges:

Re:Operation Anklefix--Mission Accomplished

Well, the swelling finally dropped enough so that they could install the metal screws and such to start the healing process properly. That was yesterday.

Local doctors say 6-12 weeks now until I'm ready to resume normal activities; I'll talk with my local GP when I get back. I think that there may be a way to safely accelerate that process.

Return flight(s) now scheduled for 3JAN Perth-SYD-LA-DFW.

What a trip! This is an amazing land and people, Kamala. Since I'll have some time on my hands, looking forward to editing the videos and stills I took before the accident for posting on my web site.

Gotta go now---the cricket highlights are about to come on telly. :birthday:

John

John I have had you in my prayers for some time now. I will keep you there~! I am sad I will not see you on the 16th of Jan when I'm in town and NO You are not allowed to try and come and see me but I will want to see you in Feb when I come to town.

Yes Australia was amazing and I can't wait to compare notes! kamala

:usflag: Yes, Mother.

10 hours to go until I ship out. Feels like I've been here forever now. Looking forward to sleeping--eventually--in my own bed Sunday night.

John

Heal fast, PPM! Take lots of calcium (or drink lots of milk) so the bones knit quickly.

Oh John...that's terrible news. Here's wishing you a very speedy recovery. Hope you got some good diving in before the accident. See you in February.

Best thoughts John - do you need airport transportation on the 3rd?
No aquarium, no tank in a marine land, however spacious it may be, can begin to duplicate the conditions of the sea. And no dolphin who inhabits one of those aquariums or one of those marine lands can be considered normal.

John,

Ditto on what everyone else has said. Know that you're in everyone's thoughts and prayers, and we're all pulling for a swift and complete recovery.

I'm so sorry to hear you were hurt on such a terrific trip. On the selfish side, I hope it won't preclude you being at the HH in February - I'm going to do my best to be there. Take care and speedy recovery John!

Kamala - thanks for updating all of us; I was concerned the situation might be more serious after your post last night.

Thank you all for your well-wishes, much appreciated.

I'm back home now, dealing with jetlag and such, plus pulling together all my various coverages that may come into play
with my multiple insurers.

On a more fun note, my DM card was in the HUGE stack of mail I had waiting when I got home. (My Irony Meter ™ kinda pegged on that one :cool1: )

If the HH for the Wench happens here in Irving near the Airport at Chammps restaurant or Cadillac Ranch you could see me there in all of my cast-wearing glory.
