A list of supposedly unread notifications appears on my screen every time I log on. But in fact I have read all of them. How can I stop them appearing, so that only genuinely unread ones actually appear?

Look at the extreme top, right corner of the page. To the right of your name is a number and an downward pointing triangle.

Click on the triangle to view all unread notifications.

Then mark them all and delete or whatever.

It would be helpful if there was a word or two up there with that little box thing to tell us what it is for.

Sorry, remiss of me not to reply. It did indeed solve the problem, though that area seems to look a little different now and when I again tried to remove the items I didn't seem able to . Now they've disappeared of themselves. So I think the issue is "pending" for me.
