No one wants the aftermath of a failed computer. Many of us are doing backups...or we think we are but we don't know for sure if they are really running automagically or if the content they are copying is any good.
So one of my BIG New Year's Resolutions is to educate myself on the ins and outs of computer backups including data and programs. And then to create a comprehensive plan to protect all our data and program needs.
And while this will be an ongoing objective for the COURSE of this year...there is NO time like the PRESENT to get started.
So who is with me? Who wants to learn more so they can start backing up their data and programs? Who ALREADY is doing it! Please share in THIS THREAD what you do and how you do it so we can all learn from your ideas and solutions.
Those Doing Planned Computer Back Ups and Those PLANNING to do Regular Back Ups:

Obj's: Back up data daily, back up programs regularily, have a complete redundant backup I can turn to in the event of catastropic failure. And do this while traveling on a laptop.
Plan: 1. Have purchased small portable terabyte sized back up drive for my laptop and will configure for use on Saba trip with help of our awesome Cmdr. Clownfish. The devise is supposed to back up data as you make changes to it running in the background seamlessly. (My Passport Essential SE 1 TB Portable Hard Drive)
2. Still need to figure out how to do the rest of the backups I want to do.
