Along the same lines:

Did you hear that lonesome whippoorwill?
He sounds too blue to fly.
The midnight train is whining low

That's Mr. Hank Williams, "I'm So Lonesome I Could Cry," I think.

On a totally different spot on your radio dial, how about...

"The less I have the more I gain."
"Don't obsess on the past. There's a reason the windshield is bigger than the rearview mirror."

"I don't know you except for the way a traveler knows a traveler." -- "Pacific Street," HEM

Metallica's "Of Wolf And Man" - Awesome song!

Here's an oldie-but-goodie:

I know ... a thing or two about her
I know ... she'll only make you cry
She'll let you walk the street beside her.
But when she wants she'll pass you by.

Oooh, so close! Right album, wrong song. But "Of Wolf and Man" is a great one, as well--"Bright is the moon, high in starlight..."

Sorry for the slip, which is amazing because I've been a Met-fan from before they released "Kill 'Em All" - I went to high school with Brian Slagel, the guy who founded Metal Blade Records ... his compilation of local bands is where Metallica's "Hit the Lights" was first heard.

my submission is:
There's always been Ethel:
"Jacob, wake up! You've got to tidy your room now."
And then Mister Lewis:
"Isn't it time that he was out on his own?"
Over the garden wall, two little lovebirds - cuckoo to you!
Keep them mowing blades sharp...

Genesis! "I Know What I Like" (I think), from the pre-Phil-as-vocalist days? Been a long time since that!
