The movie "Sanctum" opens tonight ( tomorrow at 00:01 (12:01 am)).

It is being shown in 3D here.

Should I wear my mask and schnorkle when I go?

No to the mask. Will interfere with the 3D goggles.

No to the snorkel. Cave divers don't use em.

Otherwise, enjoy. :teeth:

I'll go watch a non-3D version this weekend. 3-D makes me queasy!

I did not go to the opening showing.

I decided to wait so that I can take along a very special person.

The movie was worth going to and worth paying the extra for 3D.
I am not a cave diver nor a spelunker. I found the story to be almost totally believable. I did not notice any "stupid hollywoodness". I mean that I saw no violations of the laws of physics. The people in the cave did not have any science-fiction type of equipment.

The cinematography was very good. Really good. Very realistic, impressive, clear. I assume that much of it was shot "in the studio" - any of those shots were, for me, indistinguishable from "on-location" shots.

The 3D-ness of the movie was very good. (I had never seen a 3D movie using polarized glasses before, only the red/blue lens kind.)

The plot was not complicated. No sex, no political messages, no hidden drug use messages, no hidden homo themes. There were two scenes that caused us to question if we could ever do what the character "had to do."

If you want to enjoy the movie as much as possible, you should understand the purpose and use of a "bail-out bottle" as carried by divers using closed-circuit-rebreathers and semi-closed circuit rebreathers. Also, that rebreather divers carry very little gas (relative to us open-circuit scuba).

And.... Hollywood.... here is a fantastic marketing promotional idea that I will give you for free. Instead of only supplying the "3D glasses" you should offer "3D lenses" that we could stick on our dive mask. Then we could wear our masks to the movie. The only remaining possible enhancement to the experience would be to spray cold water on the audience.

But are there any 3-D spectacles that can be worn with normal spectacles? If it's either-or I might just as well not bother.

I saw the movie with the 3-D glasses on over my own glasses and I brought my mom with me who also wears glasses. Neither of us had any trouble with the 3-D glasses and we both were able to enjoy the movie.

I liked it, though was surprised by it. I can't say more without spoiling it.

Is it available on BluRay yet? If it is I'll buy a copy when I'm in Dallas.

No, it just came out in theaters. It won't be available to buy until it runs for a while in the theaters.

I saw it today. It confirmed for me that I don't like overhead environments! :-D
